Description: Tranquil Calley will speak in honor of World AIDS Day sharing her family’s story. Tranquil’s son Kalyn survived a gay-bashing on the UCR campus. He spoke out as a gay man when most UCR students were “in the closet.” Kalyn later lived with AIDS, passing away in 1994. Tranquil will share her own perspective on how the UCR campus climate has changed and why her son’s life can be an inspiration to the current UCR campus community.
