I'll add a review for Dr. Nguyen. He's on my list of the top three best doctors I've ever had the opportunity to work with for my care. I'm not a transexual, just a female butch who needed breast reduction to control back pain issues, but Dr. Nguyen was wonderful! His respect for my gender issues was a perfect ten. He shook my partner's hand, addressed her courteously and warmly, included her in all the discussions about what we'd need to know for post-operative care. He genuinely cared about my comfort. I felt complete respect and understanding from Dr. Nguyen. He validated my right and need for a breast reduction. Of course, he's getting paid to do the surgery, but his level of regard and understanding went beyond the realm of money. He's simply a good human doing his best to share his skills to help others live better.

Had to add one more important comment about Dr. Nguyen. His attention to detail was amazing. He took careful measurements, used more than one method to verify that his measurements were accurate, and then double-checked with me to be sure he'd met my requirements for size and shape issues. My request was to never have to wear a bra again, but I knew I still wanted some breast left over. There had been another staff surgeon come in to see me on surgery day (VA hospital) before Dr. Nguyen. The other doctor was a man named Dr. Wheatley... in my opinion, I was relieved he was not my attending surgeon. Dr. Wheatley looked at me with disdain when I told him about the no-bra size desire, and said callously, we can just do a double mastectomy, and be done with it. Total insensitivity. Dr. Nguyen, by contrast, and by my experience with his whole person, was that Dr. Nguyen is very aware that he's working on someone else's body and how vital it is to "get it right" for the patient, not for his own ego. Which, to me, is what one wants in a doctor... someone commited to getting it right per the patient's needs not what "the doctor thinks you need." At least with regard to something as subjective as breast reduction or any sort of reassignment surgery procedures.

I had my SRS with Dr. Tuan Nguyen in Oregon. I cannot adequately express my appreciation for this kind, compassionate, professional doctor. And the same goe for his office manager who helped me make all the arrangements. The hospital where Dr.Nguyen places his patients after sugery was beautiful, clean, and staffed by knowledgeable nurses who understand the transsexual's journey. I never once felt abandoned nor was I ever treated with anythig but kindness and respect. After I returned home, both my urologist and my regular physcian tld me Dr. Nguyen's work was as good as they had ever seen. I am so thankful I chose Dr. Nguyen. I would recommend this wonderful doctor to any transsexual woman contemplating SRS. And to make matters even better, Dr. Nguyen isn' out to scalp we transsexuas. His prices are very reasonable and that includes the hospital. Anyon contemplating SRS can feel free to contact me if you want further information.
