By: Martha had my surgery on June 13th 2002 11:37 am I was very Pleased with my results Thank you Dr. Pichet Email: babymartharose137@yahoo.com Date added: Dec 20, 2004 By: Jennifer I am really wondering why you say Dr.Kamol Pansritum like that, as it's very different from what I saw. One of my friends who went to him have showed me her SRS result. It looked pretty good. Anyone can explain that for me? Email: qqqqq12th@yahoo.com Date added: Dec 20, 2004 By: Dominique After all the postings, after some of you have emailed me, I feel I should make anothe comment. I want to emphasize that Dr. Pichet, his lovely wife, and his wonderful staff treated me more like a family member than a patient. That being said, I still cannot in good conscience recommend anyone go to Dr. Pichet for surgery. I have received emails from girls who found my email here or somewhere else after they also went to Dr. Pichet and had bad results. The few here who have posted how completely satisfied they are, belong to a small minority of Dr. Pichets patients (in my humble opinion). Dr. Pichet told me to wait one year before assessing the success of any plastic surgery. I did. I didn't speak for over a year. I emailed Dr. Pichet with how upset I was, but nobody else for a long time. My honor spoke to me. I owe allegiance to my transgender brothers and sisters more than I do my 1st surgeon. I cannot recommend Dr. Pichet at all. I think if he were to spend more time with other surgeons to perfect his skills rather than run a practice with the #1 goal to make as much money as he can while he is young, then he may be an acceptable surgeon. The emails I have gotten, the phone calls I have had ... tell me that Dr. Pichet cares more about money than his patients. I have lived with vaginal & urethral pain since Dr. Pichets surgery on me. I have had one corrective surgery by another US doctor. It will take at least 1 more for me to be aesthetically pleasing and pain free. By the time I'm done, I could have paid to go to Dr. Meltzer. We got to Thailand precisely because we can't afford USA prices. I will honor Dr. Pichet in only that he gave birth to the woman I always wanted to be. But I cannot recommend him. Email is welcome I wish you all a safe journey. Namaste. Dominique Email: dominique@networld.com Date added: Mar 11, 2007 By: Dominique Dr. Pichet works 7 days a weeks, sometimes 12-14 hours a day. He cannot be at his best and make good judgments when he is so fatigued. At best, he is a hit and miss surgeon. He is a wonderful caring man. His family and staff treated me like family. I honor them for that. However, I cannot recommend him to anyone. My surgery left me with no labia minora, almost non-existent labia majora, a urethra at least 2cm too long and aiming upward (i asked him to fix it while i was there and he said to wait a year until all heals), and the urethra too close to the clitoris. I am in pain nearly every day. He offered to fix me for free. I just cannot trust him. If he were to have Dr. Preecha or Dr. Sanguan do the surgery and he assist, I'd go back. I hope Dr. Pichet spends as much time perfecting his skills as he does trying to cover his ass with contractual agreements. Email: Dominique@networld.com Date added: Apr 6, 2005 By: Audra Hello Dr. Pichet and potential clients: It is not as if I did not do my research, (as Dr. Pichet can testify) I looked at surgeons all over the world and was in constant contact with Dr. Pichet and many others for 2 solid years before my decision was made to fly to Bangkok. When I met Dr. Pichet face to face, he had every e-mail and letter in which I sent him. Glad he did not have tapes of the calls I made to him at very strange hours of the day and night. His beautiful wife is also so very patient and understanding. (A mental note to all of you that are reading this). I have had the pleasure of being able to pick and chose the surgeons in which I wished to work on me. I understand that many of you work very hard and very long to get to this point in your life where it is time to invest what you sweat for years to achieve. But knowing what I know now, seeing what I can see, and have experienced first hand the skill, determination, drive, professional yet friendly attitude and superb surgical skill of Dr. Pichet, his results, not only with the SRS portion of my surgery, but with the breast augmentation as well, I can easily say is AMAZING and breathtaking. In my opinion ladies, (and this is only mine), Dr. Pichet is the very, very best. It was a very quick 15 days. Mind you, a great many of you will spend the entire month in Bangkok, so I would really plan on staying the full 30 days. For me, I am a quick healer; I am a pain is weakness kind of women. I am in the belief that the outcome of this surgery not only depends on the surgeon in which you chose, but it greatly depends on the attitude in which you take with you on this mind blowing adventure of starting life brand new. And if you think I am kidding, look at the results when the packing and tape are removed. When you are handed that little red mirror and you look at your new vagina for the very first time, oh the rush of happiness! I was very fortunate to have no bruising or horrible swelling, so when you take your first look, your results will more then likely vary. I can only give you my experience. Your eyes will fill with tears and you will then know that this was the road for you. When it comes to pain, in my case, the only thing that hurt after surgery was my breasts. I had no pain at all in the SRS Surgical area, until they came to remove the tape and packing. I forgot to advise them that I have a little reaction to the sticky on the tape, so I had some tender areas, but only because of my skin and not the surgery. So make sure the doctor knows everything he needs to know about any types of reactions that you may have. Rest assured the most painful part of the surgery is when the drain is removed from the buttocks area, (it hurt like hell for a sec) but after that, all is wonderful. The other difficult area was getting up to walk after the surgery. It is just hard to motivate yourself to do it, as being in bed is nice, but walking when it is time to walk is extremely important and necessary. If you have to walk and cry, walk and eat, walk and talk on a phone, no matter what, get it done. Just make sure that you listen to everything that is told of you to do. Make sure to following all instructions and never second guess those that are there to help you. They will not lead you down a road to failure, they will take you down the road of success. To sum it all up, I am so happy to have researched as well as I had to make certain that the most qualified surgeon was going to do my operation and after care, of which Dr. Pichet is the very best I have encountered. He as a surgeon, his wife and staff are without question very courteous, caring, enjoyable and above all professional. Having traveled as much as I have, and having met some of the best plastic surgeons there is out there, Dr. Pichet ranks up there in the top 5. As far as SRS is concerned, there is no other surgeon in my belief that could ever come close to Dr. Pichets results. Dr. Pichet has made me the happiest woman alive today. He can count on me to advise all those that inquire, to contact him if they want the best no matter the procedure. If you need pictures or further information about my trip to Dr. Pichet in Bangkok, please feel free to contact me at anytime at audramarie49@hotmail.com. Email: audramarie49@hotmail.com Date added: Jul 6, 2005 By: Audra Just a note to advise, that I did have a little problem with my stitches and the prompt response from Dr.Pichet was amazing. He was in touch with my doctor in the states right away and the problem was taken care of. Yet another reason to see this wonderful surgeon Email: audramarie49@hotmail.com Date added: Jul 28, 2005 By: Sandi I visited Dr Pichet for surgery about 8 months ago. My experience was not great and am definitely not happy with end results of my nose job and under eye surgery. After surgery I was woken up and rushed to leave, I even had to throw up before I got in the taxi waiting for me outside. (nose surgery is meant to be 1 nights hospital stay ((not here)))! My nose looks worse now than it did before and he did not remove any fatty tissue under my eye only a little bit of skin. My under eyes have not changed at all since surgery. I think it is VERY hit and miss with him and unfortunately I got the miss. What a waste of money!!! Email: sandra@tangoteaz.com Date added: Apr 1, 2009 By: Tamara I have made 2 month-long visits to Bangkok in order to see Dr. Pichet. In July of 2003 He performed SRS with bowel resection and Breast augmentation for me. I am more than satisfied with the results. Both cosmetically and functionally. My clitorus is very sensitive and I can orgasm (multiple times in the right hands.lol) I went back in May of 2005 for liposuction,a brow lift and hair transplants. i love what the lipo and brow lift have done for me. Its just a little early to tell about the transplants but they seem to be growing in all right. On both trips I also had him inject some dermaplast into my lips (on my face.lol) for a temporary treatment to enhance thier size and shape. So I have had 8 procedures with Dr. Pichet and have no reason to question his abilities. I have only good things to say for him, both as a surgeon and as a person. My daddy was a doctor of the old school. A general practitioner that made house calls. He had an amazing constitution. I think it was born of his love of medicine. Dr. Pichet's Passion for his work rivals that of my daddy. He is a capable, competant, loving surgeon and I will go back to see him for a face lift when I feel the time has come.( hopefully a few more years.lol) Thanks for the opportunity to comment. I hope it helps. My result was great. One of my friend like my breast a lot and she went and have it done with him. as far as SRS i only have a compliment from my boyfriend, i stay in hospital for 7 days and Dr. was visit me everyday and ask me how i am and see if i need anything, he even send someone to stay with me in the room. after i came out from the hospital dr. pichet still take a good care of me, i went to his clinic for 6 weeks after the surgery. i know i made the right dicision. Email: atkongkeo@yahoo.com Date added: Jul 5, 2005 By: Audra In this world of wonderful technology, another excellent way of keeping in touch with your surgeon, if he is 9,000 miles away is by web-cam. Dr. Pichet was very happy to do so with me and is able to see first hand how your surgery is coming along. Email: audramarie49@hotmail.com Date added: Aug 3, 2005 By: Allyssa My experience with Dr Pichet has been fantastic. As well as being an excellent surgeon he is a very honourable gentleman. My friend and I went to him in February 2005 for breast augmentation as his price was very reasonable. I had previously had SRS and FFS with another excellent Thai surgeon in Chonburi, so I knew what to expect regarding care, cleanliness and professionalism in Thailand. The BA with Dr Pichet went well. I stayed two nights in a modern clean hospital and was looked after extremely well. I stayed in Bangkok for 9 days following my op so I could have a one week post op check with Dr Pichet before flying back to the UK. During my check up Dr Pichet was concerned as my right breast was swollen. I had been bitten several times in that area by mosquito's so I initially put the swelling down to that but I was slightly worried too. After I returned home I waited for several days for the swelling to subside; when it didn't, I visited my GP who decided I needed the implant checked for infection at my local NHS hospital. The Dr's at the hospital examined me using ultrasound and blood tests and concluded i had somehow acquired an infection. I was admitted that day and the implant was removed. I was devastated. I should point out my friends BA had gone perfectly and she is still delighted with the result. I asked the NHS Dr's how this could have happened? But they were united in informing me it was just bad luck. The surgery site and scar were otherwise normal and the implant had been introduced correctly. In other words I could apportion no blame to Dr Pichet whatsoever. I contacted Dr Pichet to inform him what had happened and also to advise him that I didn't view the infection problem as his fault or responsibility. At this point Dr Pichet could, understandably, have offered some commiseration and left me to it. After all I was 6000 miles away and I hadn't paid a lot of money for the BA in the first instance. But Dr Pichet replied immediately offering to replace the implant free of charge as soon as my wound had healed. Not only did he offer to redo the surgery, he also said he would provide another implant and cover all my expenses including hotel, drugs, travel within Thailand, etc. for free! As things turned out due to a combination of factors it was 12 months later before I was able to return to Thailand. During the year Dr Pichet had kept in touch with my progress and repeated his offer. I eventually had a new implant inserted by Dr Pichet exactly a year to the day after my first op. This time I have had no problems and I am very happy with the result. Dr Pichet was as good as his word and honoured his promise of completely free treatment. He paid my hospital & hotel costs inc. food, and provided free travel to and from the airport. He also provided me with a driver to take me to Chonburi free of charge and liaised with the other surgeon who had done my previous surgeries. In short he could not have done more for me and I am very grateful. To finish: I am delighted to wholeheartedly recommend Dr Pichet to anyone else considering surgery in Thailand Email: ItzAllyssa@aol.com Date added: Mar 22, 2006 By: Robin I had my surgery with Dr. Pichet in August of 2003 and have gone back 3 more times for other procedures. I'm completlly happy with the results. Everything was like good old fashion family care, his staff was wonderful, and the man is without a doubt a great doctor.... All that said, what you will enjoy so much is the personal care you recieve... PLEASE contact me directly for details, I would love to help you... Here is my review of the good doctor.... Edited for corrections May 18th 2004 by Robin You may contact me via email: rtuttle385@comcast.net Hi, my name is Robin. A 42 year old recently post-op transsexual. My partner and I have been together for 26 years, married for 23 years and closer now more than ever. This is my story and opinions of my Thailand adventure with Dr. Pichet, I hope they help you in your decisions. I recently returned from Thailand where I was under Dr. Pichet's care from August 13th 2003 through September 5th 2003. I had extensive surgery and I'm VERY happy with the Dr. Pichet, his staff, and the results. I had SRS with colon resection, full facial feminization (FFS) surgery, and breast implants. The FFS surgery included full brow lift, upper and lower eyelid, complete nose reshaping, lip augmentation, jaw reduction, chin reduction, cheek implants, and Adams apple shaving. The man is wonderful! He really cares about you as a person and not as an income source. He spent 4 hours going over the surgery plan with me, and another hour or so doing an examination in his clinic the day after I arrived. I then was taken to the hospital where he had head x-rays, chest x-rays, and heart tests done to confirm my health status. Once the tests were complete I was admitted to the hospital into a fantastic private hospital suite. This room was about 30 feet by 20 feet in size with a mini kitchen and with a full view of the city. I had a nursing assistant assigned to me (no extra cost) as a companion even thought my spouse came with me. This wonderful girl stayed with my spouse while I was in surgery and intensive care, even slept in the room with her to keep her company. Once I was back in my room she took care of me as my personal nurse, a service that just cannot be found in the USA. With Dr. Pichet you pay a flat fee for his services, including the hospital charges and all medical costs, there are no other "charges" that you must pay for except your hotel room once out of the hospital. He and his staff come to you in your hotel as necessary twice a day, and then when your ready provides a personnel taxi service to bring you to him wherever he is, the hospital or the clinic. The doctor even provides your meals, which you order through his staff each day (Thai food, KFC, Pizza Hut, McDonalds etc). He will not accept money for this, he tells you that he knows you’re in a foreign land and need extra care to feel at ease. The doctor was concerned about the length of my surgery, at 12.5 hours it was at that time his longest so far, so at no additional expense to me he placed me in intensive care for a day as a precaution before releasing me to my hospital room. He even came back to the hospital at 3 AM and slept in a adjacent hospital room one night when I had stomach pains to be sure I was ok! The surgeries all turned out perfect! I never ran a fever and recovered quickly. Like I said above the doctor pays for all medical care including medicines. He had me on constant antibiotics for 2 weeks, IV meds while in the hospital and then pill form once out. My SRS results are, in my mind, perfect. I have over 6 inches in vaginal depth and I'm using a size 6 dilator (1 5/16") without problems. The doctor had me dilating the 4th day after surgery and counseled me how important it was that I did so at least twice a day if I wished to be sexually active. The basic look of the neo-vagina is acceptable but will need a secondary cosmetic surgery if I wish it to be perfect at some later point. I have great sensation at the clitoris and feeling throughout the surgical area. I’ve since experienced vaginal sex with a man and enjoyed it immensely! Dr. Pichet’s skill and the clinic’s staff support have allowed me to become a complete woman at last. The breast implants are even and look very good. The bruising was very bad initially but has healed quickly. The doctor does NOT place the implants below the muscle so if you wish that procedure you should look elsewhere. (The above statement was due to a mis-understanding on my part, Dr. Pichet does do under muscle implants.) Things to think about: The internet reviews I've read suggests Doctor Pichet does not get great vaginal depth with a simple penile skin inversion, and he does not do secondary skin graphs. OPINION: Unless you are of VERY large length in your penis you will not get great depth with a simple inversion technique from any doctor from what I've learned. If a depth of more than 2.5 inches or so is desired he highly suggests sigmoid colon resection surgery, but cautions you quite hard on the additional risks before accepting your decision to go forward. Dr. Pichet does not perform the colon resection alone, but brings in a general surgeon to harvest the colon section and assist him in its attachment. If you are a smoker or heavy drinker be ready to quit these activities before and while under his care. We all know these activities are bad for the body and know we should not do them after major surgery. If you are overweight than loose the weight before contacting the doctor, he will want full body pictures to evaluate your medical readiness to go through these surgeries. Common sense suggests you know these things, but the doctor gets girls all of the time wanting surgery while not following these simple medical requirements. Be ready for an adventure in a foreign country, this is not the USA, as almost everything will be excitingly different. Be prepared to talk with the doctor over and over as necessary to get your wishes clear. He speaks very good English but some concepts don't translate well. Remember he lives in Thailand and his primary language is Thai. Keep communicating until you and he are talking the same thing. You’re contacting him for the price savings and because of recommendations such as this one, accept the challenges that go with your decision. Learn about the risk of blood clots. The surgery, hospital stay, and primarily the long plane flights add up to a significant risk of blood clotting. On my return flight I did not get up and move around enough and ended up with a pulmonary embolism, a serious blood clot in the lungs. This put me back in the hospital for 3 days and is a very serious life threatening condition. I can not stress enough that you should consult with your home doctor and doctor Pichet on this issue! There are things you and your doctors can do to greatly reduce the risks. Do's and don'ts Don't expect Dr. Pichet to do anything that a USA doctor will not. Don't expect that the doctor is God, each body will heal in its own way. Plastic surgery is an art first and a science second. You very well may get an infection or heal slowly with no fault of the doctors. Don't expect that there are no risks in getting these surgeries, there ARE RISKS. Worst case is you could die on the table or you may not get the final results you are looking for in the end. Do contact many doctors to get their opinion on what is possible and best for you. I contacted 7 doctors, 5 in Thailand and 2 in the US before continuing. Do contact the doctor’s previous patients, I contacted 6 of Dr Pichet's previous patients before deciding I would trust this man with my life and my dreams. Any good doctor will get you the information necessary to contact his previous patients, if not, go elsewhere. Conclusions This doctor in an honorable and caring man first, a very good plastic surgeon second. I highly recommend him and his staff as a possible candidate for you. Thailand is an adventure that is not to be missed, I can see no reason to pay the extreme prices for a US doctor and miss the adventure of Thailand as well. If you have more questions or wish a more detailed and candid review of Dr. Pichet please do not hesitate to contact me at rtuttle@speakeasy.org. Robin Email: rtuttle385@comcast.net Date added: Oct 26, 2005 By: MRINALINI >KABBUR highly informative Email: mrinalinik@yahoo.com Date added: Jun 12, 2007 By: Krista I undertook SRS with Pichet on March 17, 2008. So far my results looks appropriate, except maybe the labia minora on one side is a bit choppy. I dont question his skill at all as he has done over 500 cases up to me. I do, however, agree with Dominique in that he does work constantly without much rest and he does give the impression that we are more about $ than human beings. His bedside manner was poor, and he angered easily when asked questions. He came across to me as an elitist. Being looked down did not set well with me. I agree with everybody that his staff is above par in service and professionalism and personality. Pichet shoukd take some lessons from the staff. His wife was extremely helpful when he was not. Go figure. I love the Thai folk and will return very soon. Email: kstamant@gmail.com Date added: Apr 15, 2008 By: Tami Lazzaro SRS in Thailand with Dr Pichet Hello from Bangkok, I finally have the energy and time to play on the computers at Dr Pichet’s clinic. I made it through surgery and am on the road to recovery. I had SRS and FFS done at the same time. This week I was blessed to tour the Grand Palace and Museum. Next week, if I continue to recover--- its shop till I drop. I will be back in the Portland area May 17th. When I was researching which surgeon to choose to perform my SRS I had two things that were of primary concern: controlling my pain level and post surgery after care. I have a very low pain tolerance, which I knew was going to require a lot of post surgery care. I chose Dr Pichet because he is known to have great after care for his patients. I had a private caregiver while in the hospital. Dr Pichet has me living in an apartment 2 blocks from his very modern clinic. I have to go into the clinic every day for wound care and monitoring. He provides free transportation for all his patients to any spot in Bangkok. So far, my expectations of high quality post surgery care have all been met. Coming from a nurse with a high expectation in patient care, that is saying something. My surgery went well enough. I was in surgery and recovery for about 8 hours. Then they sent me to Med / Surg for monitoring and IV therapy. All the things I do on others at work they were now doing on me....... It felt weird. Problems starting arising when I was put on morphine for pain control. I had morphine several years ago without any problems. Unknown to me, between then and now I had developed an allergic reaction to morphine. The first dose was fine and I was pain free. After the second dose of morphine I started vomiting (Emesis) every 30 min, my BP dropped to 85/45, heart rate was 44 (bradycardia), and my lungs filled with fluids. I was in bad shape. Dr Pichet reacted with swiftness and all the right moves. He stopped the morphine, brought in a cardiologist and physical therapy. They put me on a heart monitor and physical therapy started me on 2L/ min O2 and lung percussions to loosen and cough up the fluids. Within 24 hours my heart rate was stable and lungs were clear. Dr Pichet kept me in the hospital an extra day at his own expense. If you are looking for a high quality surgeon that puts a strong emphasis on post surgery care, I would encourage you to look at Dr Pichet. I am very impressed with Dr. Pichet skills and clinic. It is as modern as any clinic in America, if not more. Hugs, Tami L Email: tamilazzaro@yahoo.com Date added: May 11, 2008 By: Susie Joyce My experience (March 2008) was nothing short of wonderful. I had breast augmentation (to 38C) and all phases of the procedure went extremely well - pre-surgery, surgery and especially post-surgery. Dr Pichet is an urbane and extremely professional surgeon and he involved me in every aspect of the procedure. Mrs Mao is a delight, and the "extra" services - chauffeur service, tour guide, airport transfers etc are provided within the overall fee. A 15,000 mile round trip, first time in Bangkok, worry about the surgery - all my apprehensions were laid to rest very quickly and I would unhesitatingly recommend Dr Pichet to anyone. I certainly intend to re-visit for FFS later in the year. Email: susieuk@lineone.net Date added: May 4, 2008 By: Darcie I am a relatively private person, and I have debated whether my two cents is worth anything, but I feel I need to put it in. So here goes. On May 7th 2008 I went to Dr Pichet for my SRS, this was not a choice I came to easily. After years of looking and reviewing several doctors I decided to go to Dr Pichet. I didn't personally know anyone that had been to him or anything. I went mainly off reviews much like this and emails I had had with him. One thing I have to say is I really liked the fact was having a chance to see photos of when the bandages came off as well as photos of the healing process. It has made sense of it all for me, as I am a very visual person. When I arrived in Bangkok with my friend we were taken to his office and I met with him and members of his staff. Dr Pichet came across as a decent person that cared, as did his staff. After talking and going over the procedure My friend and I were taken to our hotel. The next morning we were picked up and taken to his clinic for my surgery. Again He and his staff were very nice and highly professional. When I woke up from surgery in the recovery room I had problems with dizzy spells. Due mostly to my having low blood pressure. Everyone was very helpful and after a few hours I was taken to the hospital. It would have been sooner, but I was too dizzy to even sit up for some time. My stay at the hospital was nice, and my friend stayed with me the whole time at the hospital, they brought her a spare bed to sleep in and were very nice to her as well. Dr Pichet along with members of his staff would come by every day to check up on me. After the 4th day the bandages came off and as I had thought I had reacted to the bandages (as I am highly reactive to adhesives, I break out even from the hypo-allergenic bandages.) He gave me a cream to deal with the rash and swelling and in a few days it all but cleared up. After I was released from the hospital and went to my hotel I was going to his clinic every other day for check-ups. On the 19th he informed me there was an area of skin on my labia minora that was a different colour then the rest (dark red, and had not lightened up as did the rest) and that he wanted to do a skin graft to correct it. A few hours later true to his word he did the revision at no cost. The whole time I have been under his care I have been treated with compassion and professionalism that has impressed me to no end. As for his work, I am quite happy with the ascetics. I have started to gain feeling and I am happy as well with that. As I am happy with the depth I have. All in all I am very happy with my experience with Dr Pichet, and would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. I do have one last thing to add, an American style breakfast??? I don't know anyone in America that has hotdogs for breakfast, but it doesn't matter where you are in Bangkok, American style breakfast, you get hotdogs with it (eggs, toast, coffee, juice, ham, bacon or sausage and yes hotdogs, not an or but they are standard and not even listed) and its like that every place.
