How to hide changes to body
« on: November 03, 2009, 11:21:32 pm »
First, I am currently working as a police officer and I worry about transitioning. The department doesn't really have much in place for me. I am transitioning from male to female and I wonder how long I can possibly hide it?

Second, I just started on shots. Is that going to make my transition faster than pills and is it suppose to stop all erections? Also can a get a good orgasm still without the ejaculation factor?

Can sex stir up testosterone and reduce the amount of estrogen in my system?

The changes will be slow at best.  About the sex thing I am not sure as I have not had sex for years.  Never had an interest in it.

Are you taking T-blockers or just E?

You should not start it until you have already come out of the closet. You should also be in counseling. If not then you are most likely self medicating.  HRT isn't a game.

The Wiki has a lot of great information.  I used it when I was going to come out at work.

Ok Dag, just making sure. But by now you should be rejoicing in the changes not trying to figure out how to hide them. It may take 1-3 months before changes start showing to the observant and cops are pretty observant...

welcome i am also in law enforcement corrections side it will take a while for the effects to be really noticeable in the meantime i would do some checking around in human resources for what info the have on discrimination issues prior to coming out at work you need to know where you stand with your agency i know of 2 others who transitioned within their agency one of them was a narcotics officer the other was patrol and we joke that he transitined in a crown vic lol

I remember reading years ago (I don't have the source) that the prospect of sex increases a male's testosterone levels.  It isn't the sex itself, but just the idea that it is likely.  So I guess it's better if you just don't think about it. :P

And definitely check on your department's discrimination policies.

There are no standards.  Some of us transition faster than others.  It's a crap shoot, so you better get ready now.  I hid under compression vests, sport jackets, short, short boy-cut hair, and a lifetime of acting male.  BUT......it didn't last.  Customers who never knew me started calling me ma'am......well.....you get the idea?
I did it all wrong, and I transitioned faster than I thought I would.
This is a one time ride.......you can do it white knuckles, or you can enjoy the ride.
