Humour - If gender was a cherry pie...
« on: July 29, 2007, 03:51:38 pm »

If gender was a cherry pie...

Cisgender individuals would contentedly eat their designated half.
Transsexuals would throw away their assigned half, and eat the other half.
Transgenderists would eat the top half, and pay no mind to the flaky pastry below.
Crossdressers would eat half, and happily wear the other half.
Transvestic Fetishists would eat half, and save the other half for the thrill of it.
Drag Queens would sprinkle the entire pie with sequins, and put it on spotlight display.
Drag Kings would bind one half and pack the other half, while humming "Putting on the Ritz".
Shemales would insist on top billing in "How to Have Your Cherry Pie and Eat It Too".
Intergender folks would eat the very center, but avoid the outer edges.
Bigender types would alternately munch on either half.
Ambigender individuals would alternately eat both halves too, using both hands.
Third Genders folks would substitute ingredients and bake a brand new type of pie.
Omnigender individuals would cherish the entire pie, except for the extreme outer crust.
Neutrois would throw away their alloted half, and do nothing with the other half.
Pangender folks would complain that there wasn't enough pie for everyone.
And... Gender Transcendent types would eat chocolate cake and be delighted that everyone else had damn good cherry pie.

I am an Androgyne.
I am not Cisgendered, not Cross-gendered, not Bi-gendered, not Neutrois, not a Crossdresser, not Genderqueer.
I'm something else entirely...
Something that existed beyond and before the creation of the binary genders.

That was cute.
I didn't get the bottom half however, because I had never heard those terms.
If you would, I want to know what:

Ambigender

Intergender

Omnigender

Pangender

and Gender Transcendent (I've heard you refer to yourself this way, but don't know what it is)

mean.

No links please. I like the way you describe things.
Thanks.

your curious friend,

Thanks Jaston!
Always a pleasure Nero...  :icon_biggrin:

Ambigender  (ambi + gender)  ambi = both
Ambigender is the same as Bigender, an individual who identifies as possessing both a male gender and a female gender.  People who are Ambigender switch from one gender to the other much the same way someone who is ambidextrous can switch from one hand to the other.  Most people are right-handed, some are left-handed, ambidextrous people are blessed with the ability to use both hands equally.  Ambigender hints of the ability to consciously change from masculine to female gender and back at will.  Some individuals with a Bigender identity change gender unconsciously and without control.

Omnigender (omni + gender)  omni = all, in every direction at once.
Omnigender is the way some Androgynes describe their gender identity experience.  Omnigender means to feel like a "big ball of gender", containing all genders, without desire to express the extremes of masculine or feminine behaviour.  To be Omnigender is be all genders without being one gender or the other.  Those who are Omnigender have a constant feeling of gender abundance.

Intergender  (inter  + gender)  inter = among, in between, in the midst.
Intergender describes someone who's gender experience puts them in the center of the gender continuum, in between male and female gender.  Individuals who are Intergender are of undifferentiated gender or simply refuse to define their gender at all.  Intergender can be compared to Intersex in the sense of genitalia that cannot be determined to be one sex or the other, an indistinct blend of male and female.  People who are Intergender do not switch genders, their state of being in between male and female gender is stable and consistent. A Neutrois might describe their gender as Intergender.

Pangender  (pan + gender)  pan = all, a gathering or unification of all branches of a group.
Pangender is used by Androgynes to describe their gender experience in much the same way Omnigender describes being all genders simultaneously.  But Pangender has another meaning too, it refers to a gathering of individuals who are of various genders, a party or celebration of the variety of gender identities and gender expressions much like a "Pride Fest".  (You may likely run out of pie at such an event.)

Gender Transcendent  transcend = to go beyond, to surpass.
A Gender Transcendent is an Androgyne who's gender experience is beyond gender, exceeding gender, outside of gender, or otherwise cannot be described in terms of gender.  I don't have a gender in the normal sense of the word 'gender'.  For me, it feels like something akin to neither/both/all/beyond/other/none-of-the-above.  It is the feeling of being whole, complete, and wonderfully human!  I possess many of the positive traits of both the traditional genders, yet I don't identify as a woman (or a man) beyond the biological sex of my body.  Like many Androgynes, I'm a paradox of neither gender and both genders simultaneously.  I have always felt genderless, genderfree, entirely beyond and outside of gender.
