Who is that?
« on: July 04, 2007, 09:02:58 pm »
Hi Everyone!

I finally took the leap!  Off with the beard, on with a new wig...quite a change...Wow!

Last week, I finally plucked up the courage to go to the wig shop.  I was going to just look around and see what the place was like.  As I walked up to the door, the big sign "By Appointment Only" stared me right in the face.  Feeling a little nervous, I walked inside anyway.  A voice from the back shouted "Can I help you?"  "Uhh, yeah...I guess I need to make an appointment," I said.  The lady, Carol, said that she had some time right now, as the person she was supposed to be working with was a no-show.  Great, now I can't back out without looking like an idiot.  I told her that I wasn't sure what I wanted, but was looking for something medium length and in a darker color, all the while thinking, "Laurry, what the f**k are you doing here?"

Carol went out of her way to make me feel right at home.  "Well, we'll just grab a couple and try them on," she said.  I admitted I was a little nervous and kinda embarassed to be trying on wigs, especially as I still had my beard, but Carol just said "Shush, we get lots of cross-dressers in here, and it doesn't make any difference to me, so just relax and have some fun."  Danged if I didn't do just that!  I tried on 15 or 20 wigs in different styles, lengths, colors.  Some of them I didn't like, a couple Carol took right off saying "it wasn't right for me".  Forty-five minutes later, I walked out of there with 2 new wigs and a new friend.  Needless to say, I'll be going back.  If you are ever in Dallas, stop by the wigs.com salon (near downtown on Boll street) and tell Carol I said Hi.

After agonizing over it for the last couple of months, I finally gave up my fears (or gave in to my desires, or both) and shaved off the whiskers.  Now, I'm about to head out for something to eat and to watch the fireworks as the girl I've always wanted to be.  Life doesn't get any sweeter than this.

More later............Laurry

Wow, Laurry, if your name wasn't on that post, i wouldn't have known it was you.

Not only do you look good, but the picture itself came out good.  Having a good day, indeed.  You actually look much younger than you did in the previous picture.

I am just learning the social rules for androgynes.

Are we supposed to kick Laurry out of our group for looking like a woman?   :D

Thanks everyone for the nice things you've said about my new picture.

Foggi, thanks for saying I look younger (especially since I just had yet another birthday).
Tink, what?  This old thing?  ::)

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk.  Just when I was starting to like you, now I have to break your legs.  The Androgyne Mafia has its rules, ya know.

Good Point.  I take back everything I've said that may have been offensive to you.

I think that line will be useful for many situations in the future.  It almost killed me with laughter.

I don't believe there's a rule book for being androgyne so we get to look like anything we want. Besides, if there was a rule book, probably rule #1 would be to break all the rules  ;D

Yep, but breaking this one could be a little tough.  Hey, that may answer the big transitition question...you have completed your transition to Androgyne when you have broken ALL the rules in the book...so far, I'm only 15% Transitioned, but I will be at 20% after I say something bad about someone's Momma.  Nah, that's not going to work either....oh well.

Now that's just not fair!  I finally get out of the funk I had been in for a couple of weeks, struggling with the masculine/feminine balance, and now I have to figure out what I want to be called??  Sheesh.

OK...you folks asked for it.

How do YOU refer to YOURSELF?  Do you just call yourself by name?  Do you use "girl" or "guy" depending on your mood?  Do you use "guyrl", "gyrl", "bee-otch" or what?

Many years ago an ex boyfriend used the first letter of my name, ze, as my own personal pronoun, that still works for me. My current partner (11 years this summer  ;D) often uses they and them for me, historically they could be used as a singular pronoun when gender was unknown. She is also OK, I absolutely despise being referred to by male pronouns. Of the non gender specific pronouns out there, I like zie, but haven't ever been able to get used to hir, it sounds too much like her when spoken.

I use Tay.  In a sentence when used in the place of pronouns, I remove the capitalisation.

"Tay went to the bathroom and relieved taysself then returned to tays living room waited for the repair guy to show up and repair tays internet."

I will sometimes use 'guy mode' or 'girl mode' for appearance wise. On this board I use several names, since the names dont really matter to me. Just dont call me Lassy or the Pope. I dont like being called sir, mam, or girl, guy, in a permanent sense. I dont mind refering to masculinity or femininity.
