Halloween 2007 - Lady in Waiting
« on: September 18, 2007, 06:54:48 am »

I love halloween. Its such a great opportunity for me. Besides the fact that this time of year holds special note for me because it was around this time of year I finally was able to get some recognition from Marq after working in the background all our life. I've had the opportunity to shine a couple of halloweens past and this year will be no exception.

As per our attire arrangements, I don't usually get to pick anything to wear outside around other people. Halloween offers a unique opportunity to do so without raising hardly any questions. Essentially its a free ticket to stretch my wings without repurcussions.

Well I was at my local Wal-Mart and I saw a costume in the costume isle that I absolutely fell in love with. Speaking with Issa and one of my friends about it, we determined that the costume itself is probably not as high quality as I deserve. One of our friends does costume making on the side and we made contact on this project and she was more then happy to give it a try.

I am including the picture of the costume store bought version and after its complete I'll repost with a picture of the finished costume in use. The only significant changes we're making to the design are lengthening the front a little more and replacing the gold trim with some other color. Maybe make the sleaves not hang so much too.

This is going to be adorable I can already tell and I'm quite excited!!

I'm going to go as goth'd out as I can because this style dress is similair to one of my characters in the D&D game I play, a necromancer by the name of Nadia who comes from a noble background that she doesn't emphasis but its still obvious in how she carries herself. Its that kind of creepy yet elegant style I wish to achieve. Of course I'll compliment the costume with the proper footwear and legwear, accessories, and some long black nails. I even hope to dye my hair black.

You're going to look fantastic!  :icon_flower:

Clothes aside, the inner geek has to ask, does Marq like Dnd too? What's your thoughts on 4th edition comming out next year? I'm a bit bummed as my group only recenty started playing 3.5 after finally giving up on 2ed... By the time we play 4th edition there is likely to be another  ::) . I'm usually DM so have not actually been a player in 3.5 yet, and the next campaign someone else DM's is likely to be rolemaster :(

Actually thats one of the activities that we really get to both play at the same time. Marq DMs two games in which I play a character in each. To everyone not really keyed into our special circumstances it just looks like the DM is playing a character too to fill out the group but little do they know that I'm actually playing the characters. I think if someone really wanted to see the difference between how the two of us act, watching one of the sessions is probably the easiest way. Hes just very direct and businesslike as he directs the game and yet as soon as its my characters turn I move and act with such grace.

I think because we both get a lot out of the game, its one of our favorite activities to do. Its something we share and that makes it all the more special to us.

It took being at DnD tonight for me to remember I didn't answer your other question. Forgive me.
I don't like that 4th edition is coming out at all. I think WotC are doing what they always do. Release a bunch of stuff till they can't release anymore and change the rules to release all that stuff again making you pay for more and more. My group will not be switching to 4.0 unless it is absolutely amazing as a ruleset. If 3.0 is any indication of WotC's abilities to remake a ruleset, we won't ever switch. It irritates me that they did that crap with Magic:TG and that they're trying to pull it on DnD as well. I've spent enough money on their products to finally get a good resource base for my games and they're talking about another edition. Again forget that unless its absolute gold.

I got my first sketch of the dress shes making for me. Its a nice start but I feel like I want to get it spot on so I'm sending her a sketch of mind to clarify a couple color choices and styles of different parts of the dress. I'm not a very good artist so its kind of a bad drawing but it will get the point across.

I'm still quite excited about this. I've got a number of the other elements like hair and accessories figured out. I have just to pick some shoes for it and I'm set.
