Hi all, its been a little while, if anyone remembers me...I donno that anyone does though, I've had to grow up some...

Anyway, a Fellow moderator on another forum's Girlfriend is doing a Gay/Lesbian Pride March, but it seems a bit stereotypical....

It has things like, "leather strap on Dildo's", "penis guns" and other stereotypical things like that, as well as a "same sex Prom".

It seems like a good idea, but it just seems kinda like something that pushes people away rather then help to support them, in how its being done, but a good idea if done differently...

The Prom seems like a good idea also, but also it depends on how its taken care of.

The Fellow mod agrees, and I'd like opinions here, if possible.

Any opinions?

Are we the only ones thinking about it that way?
Or are we just being ignorant or something?
If I am wrong in my thoughts, can you please explain how? Sad

If this is in the wrong section, please move it to the correct one, I am unsure if its specifically just Lesbian and Gay, or LGBT all together.

I think that is also pretty ridiculous.  talk about perpetuating the stereotype.

Gay pride should not be about scaring people over overwhelming them. It should be about opening the opportunity for gay-straight alliance.

That's at least how I feel about it.

I agree with Dan and Audrey.  While I understand the impulse to be "in your face" when you feel as if you have been marginalized, in the end I think it does more harm than good.  It just gives ammunition to the right-wing hate-mongers.
