Title: Hypothetical Fight to the Death: Men vs. Women
Post by: Yakshini on December 12, 2010, 12:29:05 AM
So here is a hypothetical situation which really got me thinking.

Say there is a world-wide battle to the death of men vs. women. There is no further elaboration aside from "men vs. women". Every person on Earth MUST participate in this battle. Would you fight on the side of your biological sex or with your gender? Which ever you choose, do you think they would accept you on their team?  Would you feel obligated to fight along side the people with your same bodies or minds? And what of the androgynes and IS folk? Where do you guys fit in to this battle?

I would personally attempt to join the men's team, though I'm not sure they would accept me considering I do not fully present as male. I image that the women's team would assume I was only joining the men's team because I was sure the women would lose, and that I was betraying the sex I was born.

I'd be more inclined to join the women....you ever been in a fight with a girl? They fight DIRTY.

Plus the mens side has the disadvantage of having more vulnerable crotch areas :P

To force me to take part in such a battle you would have to kill me.

I am IS - even though I didn't know it initially, and lately I have begun to realise that though I chose surgery to become female bodied and indeed would still unequivocally choose to be female bodied, in many ways my core identity is inescapable IS - so I become a refusnik - a conscientious objector and I will not fight for either side. Instead I would become an outlaw and fight only for peace.

I don't wanna fight the girls.. but I'd rather not fight the men either...

I think I'll go hide in the mountains instead.

Same, women fight dirty and men have brute strength. If I had to though I'd be on the guys side, I think they would let me.

I would join the women for one simple reason.

If the men win, the human race is extinct in a generation.

If the women win, there's a reasonable chance of keeping the species going.

Used to be women were to smart to get into fights to the death.  These days, not so much.

Same here.  I'll be hiding out in the mountains too or fighting for peace.

I agree with the "go hide in the mountains."
We can start up our own little trans community.

I'd be on the men's side. Preferably in the background in a more tactical or technical role (or alternatively, and what would be more likely, some form of driver or pilot), but on the men's side none the less.

I'm pretty damn sure I'd be accepted. I seem to be accepted in "real life" without any issues (I've been on T a while, I live day to day without revealing my background). I see no reason why it'd change for a hypothetical situation.

I sure wouldn't be accepted into the women's team, anyway!

I would feel no obligation to even consider joining the women's side. I don't consider myself female. I can't feel any sense of betrayal towards a group I've never really been a part of.

I suppose my response would be more interesting if I wasn't all uncool and binary fitting, but ah well... I am what I am!

Besides, there's always a chance an all man army might start "going greek" - especially after all the women have been wiped out. How could I not fight with that side? >:-)

I would lead a successful peace negotiating team and end the hostilities returning harmony to the world and of coarse winning me a Nobel Peace Prize award  ::)

And if the women did wipe out the men, I'd come down out of the mountains and be one of the most eligible bachelors around.   >:-)  If they didn't shoot me first.   :o

The men would not stand a change.  If it is true that women begin to cycle together after a time.  And they are armed.  Well what else can be said.

In reality I'd say two things.

1.  Men are far more socialized into naturally fitting into the the mechanism of an army.  They are more trained in team mentality, accepting leadership, falling into ranks and working together to achieve common adjectives.  The most superior organizational skills combined with the quickest and most vigorous execution tends to win.

2.  Men not only invented thermonuclear weapons, they used them.

I would probably be inclined to join the men's team, but I feel like some jerk would probably "friendly fire" me "just to be safe".  In fact, due to my unpassability, it would probably be seen as a dumb ploy to get behind enemy lines by the girl's team. :(

If hiding in the mountains is a legit option, I choose that!

Yeah, I'd fight on the female team. I'd rather fight and die as a woman than betray my core identity and live. I'm stupid like that :)

If this morning is anything to go by, it wouldn't matter which side I fought on, I'd end up killing men.

... uhm.... what?

Wipe out the women, no babies.
Wipe out the men,.... babies?

You could essentially clone a person and insert the egg into a mother.

Or take over all the sperm banks in the world as headquarters, wipe out the men, and recreate a population based on Artificial Insemination. Cloning is a bit risky, prone to too many defects.

I'd fight for the men, though. Shouldn't be giving the ladies any ideas.

For myself I'd join the women.

Even not being passable yet I'm sure they'd accept me. Then I'd pretend to be on the male side, leak valuable information and create lies and rumors amongst the male side, use counter-intelligence to fuel the male battle plans and ensure I held the code to the nuclear weapons. Then tell each of the men that his particular wife slept with any male in his unit that he had an issue with, causing the men to fight, which would cause a chain reaction in which they would choose sides based upon loyalties.

Let's face it, give men a reason to fight and they will!

Thanks for reminding why women terrify me  :P

As I've made a point of in my transition I'd rather die fighting as who I am than live as who I was. So I'd be on the female side as much as I was allowed.

This universe is amusing it reminds me of Transformers :P

I have no doubt that alot of women wouldn't accept me.
"You might have changed your exterior and reprogrammed some of your protocalls but you still have the core of a decepticon."

Yeah alot wouldn't really accept you you'd be like a defector from an opposing army, Even if the commander knows your loyal because you provided alot of valuable intelligence  the troops on the ground can't get over what you once were.

:P

I think that if we operate on the theory that our chosen sex will KNOW about our transition, I think our choice will be insignificant. We would be the first to be sacrificed for our side of the conflict.
"You're a man? Prove it, and die for the cause!" kind of thing.

I think the big idea is that we're human, and we won't trust those under suspicion. Transgenders, for example. Too misunderstood to be trusted.
