You can make your voice sound much more feminine if you can speak from your mouth or head instead of your chest. It's really hard to describe and understand until you've been there.

Another simple way is smiling while you talk.....lengthens the mouth/lips and "EEE-ifies" all your words making them sound lighter.

The difference between a male voice and a female voice is harmonic not pitch.

In green was a sample I took of a male voice
In blue was a sample I took of a female voice.

Pitch is indicated in this graph by the location of the first peak as you can see the female voice is higher than the male but not by much and a higher pitched male voice would still be male.

The big difference is the number of peaks in the 0k-1k hz range as you can see the male voice makes about 8 separate harmonic noises. The female I took the sample of produces only 3 peaks And instead to compensate for the lack of harmonic a female voice uses much greater pitch variation.

it is possible by using only half of your voicebox for a male to generate a female sounding voice.

The female who's voice I sampled was almost unusually high pitched she was abit petite.

I don't look like a woman now, but I work on my voice a lot when I am by myself. blow up a balloon and put it up to your neck and start talking. If it vibrates you are talking from your chest and not your head. I did this for sometime until I could find it on my own. get as high as you can and come down just before the balloon begins to vibrate. this will help find that spot that Jerica is talking about. If your throat hurts  it is to high bring it down some.

I'm happy that I sound really like a girl myself. I don't need to pretend, it just naturally sound like that. Every time I'm on the phone, I get 'mistaken' as a girl.

The problem is, every time I meet some important person (in an interview for example), I'll have to deliberately lower my voice so as to pretend to be 'manly enough'.  I hate doing this, but people just have stereotypes over we transgenders so I would try to reveal my problem on gender identity during those circumstances.

Hi pebbles,
I found your post by internet search for difference between male and female voices.
I was wondering how you generated the diagrams from audio files?
I am using Audacity, and click Analyze, then Plot Spectrum, I didn't find any peak between 0-1k Hz.
I uploaded my voice recording here https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/13029929/malevoice.mp3
Thanks!

Check out this video.  She gives quite a few good tips.

I plan to use laser surgery at Yeson in Korea because at my age it's hard to train a good voice.  Here's a sample of results.

You could try what I do which Works well for me.

Pull your voice box as high as you can in your throat. This action for me at least naturally flattens my tongue between my molars.

Use this vocal position and hop in your car and turn it to npr.  Copy what they are saying on the radio word for word as fast as you can.  I also practice singing childhood songs to work on pitch control.

For me, I sound a little nasally, but the voice isn't that tiring and it sounds natural once it's refined

Yes I have a way for you to reach this goal. It is very simple actually. You go full time! You see as long as you are presenting to the world a boy your mind will never re program to being a girl. On the other hand if you present to the world a girl your mind will very quickly come to the realitization that the voice must change to fit the image of the female.

Add a little breath to it to help with the resonance and then lower the pitch a bit.

Look for deepstealth on youtube, they have very good videos about changing your voice step by step.
