Title: standing to pee?
Post by: Nicole on May 23, 2007, 04:41:05 AM
Ok this may be the weirdest question you've been asked but here goes.

I'm a post op M2F, and after going camping over easter I found it hard peeing, the whole thing was just damm hard and I ended up driving to a caravan park just to pee.

Since then I thought I should re-learn how to stand and pee just in case I go camping again, I've been "training" in the shower (yuk) and can't aim for the life of me.

Could those of you that are pre-op and can stand and pee give me any inside "mail" on how to do it so it doesn't run down my legs.

Thanks
Nic

What you need to do my dear, is learn to squat.  The easiest thing to do since you don't have a life's history of practice, is hold on to the branch of a bush or small tree.  Have your paper ready in your other hand before you start!

For what it is worth, I have had so very few moments of time with my daughter as she grew up.  She disowned me earlier this year and it was so very painful.  But when she was little, I took her camping after my transition.  She had the need to go and asked me to help show her how.  It's not much to share from a lifetime of missed experiences. But it is something that I do remember fondly.

You can also get various devices, like the travelmate, the p-mate, and the whiz that will assist.

And, believe it or not, a paper cup works too!  I used to drive long distances in the desert and I couldn't manage to get to the rest areas.  I used a large soda cup for the deed.  NO PROBLEM.

Eh, most females can take two fingers in an inverted V-salute position, use them to spread the labia and pull upward and back a bit, which'll position the urinary opening such that the stream'll arc forward. This requires practice and isn't really very helpful for FTM's who want to use urinals, 'cause you pretty much must drop your trousers down past your butt for it to work right.

Simplest, cheapest, thing is to take the plastic lid off a plastic cottage-cheese or yoghurt container, cut the rim off it so it's just a smooth circle of plastic, cut a flat edge on one side, fold the thing in half into a V-trough and hold it in place just under your urethral opening. Try to, uh, moderate the stream, if it's too forceful you'll make a mess.

There are commercially made devices that work more or less the same, available from camping stores. And other ways to improvise. Medicine spoons. Or once, a friend of mine (a bio-male) was walking down the street and somebody peed on him from on top of a building. He ran up to the roof of said building in a rage and discovered two very pretty girls up there, peeing on men through the big straws you get with fast-food milkshakes. He was so tickled by this that he had to get them more drinks so they could pee on more men.

Since peeing standing up isn't really your issue, you just want to pee neatly while camping, you might find a female bed-urinal adequate or better. You can get 'em from drugstores, and I think you can even use one in the car.

One GG I traveled with through Africa would use a ziploc bag at night because she was afraid to wander out to the outhouse after dark.  Works great if you are indoors or need to store it until you can dispose of it.

TURKEY BASTERS FTW XD

But seriously, that's what I use for the urinals and it works like a charm. Getting my mango soon too, I hope.

I don't recommend the Ziploc bag tip... It's so easy to drop it and make a mess... Or not to close it right and make a mess... Or fill it too much and not be able to close it without making a mess.

This. If you have to pee in something try a Gatorade bottle.
