Title: Dr. Christine McGinn on Oprah
Post by: FairyGirl on September 28, 2010, 12:03:06 PM
My surgeon Dr. Christine McGinn is going to be on the Oprah Winfrey show Wednesday, September 29 talking about her new twins! I really love this woman and there aren't words to describe what she has done for me. Can't wait to see this!

hasn't aired yet- it will be 4 o'clock this afternoon U.S. Eastern time. It appears she will be talking about her new twins with her partner. I know Dr. McGinn transitioned 10 years ago so it will be interesting to see.

Very interesting.  I think Oprah handled it quite well, although she did seem to be a little out of her element.  "Transgendered" instead of "Transition",  The way she dropped the "bombshell" was not the best way to tell the story.

But I would give it a 8 out of 10.  :)

The story is here:

Yeah I agree that Oprah told it in a bit of sensationalist manner, but that's her style. I'll give her props for showing them in such a positive light. And I think Dr. McGinn is very brave to do what she does to provide a positive image of those of us who transition to the rest of the world. She is a real treasure.

I watched it.  I think it was a good show overall, but I wish people (Oprah) were more educated about gender issues.

Oprah:  So you used to be Chris, had an operation and you're now "transgender"? ::)

No, I'm now A WOMAN should have been Dr. McGinn's response.    If she's already post-op, had "an operation" as she puts it, she's woman, nothing else. not trans anything.

If anyone needs it, I've uploaded this episode here:

4shared: Part 1 (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/EWSZNZn0/oprah_2010-09-29_real-life-mod.html), Part 2 (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/Lxo2Ruof/oprah_2010-09-29_real-life-mod.html), and Part 3 (http://www.4shared.com/account/file/TR2D7niz/oprah_2010-09-29_real-life-mod.html)

- or -

mediashare: Part 1 (http://www.mediafire.com/?q1qa0vjvlhqq8yk), Part 2 (http://www.mediafire.com/?7o99a1es70qu6xq), and Part 3 (http://www.mediafire.com/?8dv8n1w2d8t05hl)

(The parts on each server are identical. So, for example, you can download parts 1 & 3 from one server and part 2 from the other and it'll still work.)

I had to split it into three parts due to limitations by the free servers, so you'll need a program like 7zip (free) (http://www.7-zip.org/download.html) or similar to rejoin them... be sure to save all three parts in the same location, use 7zip (or whatever) to open the first file (.001), and then extract it and 7zip will stitch all three parts back together.  If you have difficulty playing the Xvid-encoded AVI, you may need to update your system's media player, or just install a compatible one (such as the free VLC Media Player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)).

Happy viewing,
Josie

Edit: Added mediashare mirrors.

Jerica, I downloaded the ep from a Hotfile server.  I don't know if we're allowed to post links like that here, though.  You can email me if you want.

I asked Janet Lynn (admin) first before posting my links (above), and she said it was ok.  :icon_geekdance:
