Title: Truth on rib removal
Post by: tisha on December 31, 2007, 04:10:02 PM
Whats the truth on having the lower ribs removed to help create a more curvy shape ?  I've heard so many stories and I just wonder what the real story is.

                                      thanks

My girlfriend had it done in Argentina.  It improves your overall shape but nothing that people will go -wow-

I think actually, the corset, especially if you're young and your ribs as still
maleable, can create a better shape than rib removal for lot less risk.
Though its long (at least one year of 16h daily use) and not very comfortable.

But, the ribs are there for a reason, I'm not sure I'd want to mess with them.

Oh. Ok, thanks for the info. I had heard about having the ribs taken out but just wanted to know a little more.  Thanks again.

We could get Izzy to send us some boss sauce, she is in Kansas City area, best BBQ in the US.

I would think it would be very hard to find a doctor in the in the US to do it, and harder still to find a hospital that would allow it for cosmetic reasons.

As part of a scoliosis operation, a doctor lied to me severely and took out a part of my ribcage along with a floating rib (claimed it would just be a floater.) (the surgery failed and they lost all my medical records from before it, too :p)

Subsequently my upper body strength is totally shot and my stomach muscles lack the proper support leading to frequent injury if i try to move or lift things that are remotely heavy.

rib removal is bad.

Do you think that this technique would work on a 16 -year old? I've just started taking hormones about a month ago and as it is I don't have a very large ribcage but I do want to make sure I have a curvey feminie appearence. ;)

I'd say yes..I have been in corsets for over a year now and at my age (61) it has given me a better shape. I usually don't even realize that I am wearing it...most of the time.

Summers here (near Palm Springs) are very hot...and yet I don't find it uncomfortable at all.

It isn't so much the younger-more-bendable bones..it's constant pressure and persistence on your part that will help.

But....I guess younger bones are a lot more flexible ...so maybe you will get better and faster results. My need to corset is for medical (yippee) reasons...and I wallow in the good feeling of "needing to wear it for doctor's orders" and personal glee.

I get a license to wear it..and as male...it is comforting to know I have that prescription..it's even tax-deductible.

Hugged by a corset is a fantastic feeling and I wear mine about an hour or so less than 24/7..that time out is for bathing and changing clothes and the body sock I wear under the corset.

I sleep in mine, go trout fishing and generally wear it all the time I am awake.

Don't overdo it at first..develop a love affair with it...it will become your personal friend and contour itself to your shape all the while gently moving things to that female hourglass shape.

Be careful if you should want to tight-lace. It should not be done rapidly...some even consider it kinky..(I don't) but if and when you decide to do it, it will be easier if you take it in stages. Like things that feel good, you can get carried away if you're not careful. It falls into the category of bondage and SM if you go at it too extremely.

Resist the urge for instant results. Medically removing ribs is not a good idea. Surgery of any kind is risky...not the cutting and suturing..but the anesthesia is the real risk. Have surgical procedures/operations on yourself as seldom as possible.

Rib removal is done in Brazil but it's frowned upon in the U.K. and U.S. I'd like to see the results, examples and statistics from this operation. I had a friend in Scotland who wanted to have it done but she couldn't get any backing.

would 25 be too old for much effect with a corset?

Not at all..like I said...at 60+ I have had nice results to my wearing one. It's likely the attitude you have about it too.

If you are not fully convinced that it WILL do any good, then I bet that wearing it will be sporadic at best and the returns will be minimal if anything at all.

In a decent regimen of actually wearing the corset, you will develop a faith and hope in the end results and therefor wear it as should be done.

Sometimes..a little OT but really relevant..I have from time to time lost faith in fishing lures...not that they don't work well enough..but for silly reasons that only I can fathom, I stop using that lure. Then the realization that it used to work well and I just needed a little time for me and the lure to get our "groove on" as it were, and the results are usually very good.

Somehow..mind over matter helps a lot... in corsets or fishing lures.

I LOVE my corset. Unfortunately unless I found a way to make a living out of BDSM, it most definitely cannot be worn all of the time. Well, ok... maybe in a dystopian future of some sort.

Ironically, to move the bones, extreme tight lacing is not needed (going to tight is indeed dangerous).

You're objective is not to reign in the waist (which should be done by exercise and dieting anyway) but make the transition from the torso to the waist smoother. If your wearing, a 38 inch band, a 22 inch waist looks pretty stupid (especially with thin hips). So, how much you can cinch to make it esthetically pleasing depends on your current torso.

In my case, if I need it at all (which I probably do not) it would take a minimum, since my waist is 26.5 inch already and my under bust measurement is around 30 inch.

Another thing to consider is that ribs are one of the bones that will regenerate in the human body.
