Lordy I hate Spam, I lived on it at Uni, the only 'food' I could afford. Years later I went for a holiday to Hawaii, Spam central of the world. I could not believe it.

I have remembered that when I was in High School a friend's mother got us jobs in the fish and chip shop where she worked. 
I had to make the chips, from washing to peeling, slicing and cooking.  Here they are partially pre-cooked to seal them until they are fried before sale.  My mate did the same with potato cakes.  It was years before I could eat chips again, but I could handle spud cakes.  Mate was the opposite!

When my parents lived in London, I developed a taste for authentic fish and chips with malt vinegar.
I keep a bottle around solely for that.
