Discrimination So Prevalant

Ebbtide:
Hello,
I've been reading your stories and the sheer number and types of discrimination that takes place is just mind boggling to me. The hate from those who don't/won't understand is just...wow. I've been sitting here crying, because I know how it feels to be stigmatized and ridiculed for something that should be embraced and appreciated.

I just want to give you all a hug and let you know that I am so sorry you've been treated with such blatant and uncalled for disrespect. The next best thing, I suppose is being able to NOT be the bigot in the stores, on the streets, at your workplaces. I know your experiences were difficult for you, but I want to thank you all for sharing. They have all made me want to be a better person and increased my awareness. Thank you.

Thank you for your comment, Ebbtide. We continue to live our lives and at the same time educate those who are open.

Ebbtide:
That is awesome. <3. It can't be easy, but you are all so strong and...I just really admire you all for what you've gone through and the fact that you can still be so accepting, understanding and ready to help educate people.

I suppose it is human nature to distrust that which is different, or does not conform.  Then again, civilized people have to capability to adapt.

Yes, adaptation to new ideas and situations can be life-altering. Epiphanies that accompany this paradigm shift can help people to be more open in many circumstances. :). I hope that someday the distrust of "different" can be removed from social consciousness as we become more educated and as awareness improves.
