Physical androgyny is what we all possessed before puberty.
An androgynous-looking body would be without breast development. Flat chested.
Breast are unmistakably female, just ask any Transsexual.

Androgyne.
I am not Trans-masculine, I am not Trans-feminine.
I am not Bigender, Neutrois or Genderqueer.
I am neither Cisgender nor Transgender.
I am of the 'gender' which existed before the creation of the binary genders.

I think it depends how the rest of your body looks.
If your are thin, little muscles, a femalish face, anything bigger than AA will push you past androginy, but for someone with a bigger frame and a more male looking face (but still ambiguous), an A cup would be fine.

Physical androgyny is about dosing various attributes to project something that will confuse the other person's normal gender recognition. If a person hesitates to even call you sir or mam, you've done your job right.

Breasts are not always the best clue if someone is female, I see men with breasts everyday. The men don't like it and they certainly don't show them off, but there they are.

Yep, there they are!
There is a very good reason why men don't like to have breasts...
Breasted males are subject to unkind remarks from both sexes for having "boobs like a girl".
Breasts are considered to be a female characteristic - even on a man's body.

Considering that I feel my own breasts are FAR too large at an A that is slowly creeping towards becoming a B?

Flat or AA.  Nothing larger.  I find my breasts disgusting, for the most part.  I do not want them.  As time passes, it is seeming more and more likely I'm going to end up either getting a reduction (I don't even know if they CAN do that on a chest as small as mine is already) or trying to convince them that I need ftm top surgery.  Which sucks, since I don't think I can be categorised as ftm at ALL, so I'd have a hard time getting it, methinks.

I am slim, muscular and my facial features are rather androgynous.
Nevertheless, I have a D-cup, and in that position (you can take my word for this) you will settle for anything smaller.  :-\

I see your point Emerald, I thought Ken/Kendra was asking if having breasts would be a sure fire clue of a person's gender, but maybe I misunderstood.

I don't believe that even a hint of breasts does an androgyne any good.

To me, the look I want is me before puberty.  I don't have breasts of course (male bodied Becky they calls me), but it would be worse than having my stupid testicles because at least nobody can even see if I have any, though I'm sure many people suspect I don't.  :D On account of I hate everything male.

Mm... yes.  The prepubescent body.  I could go for that.  Hairless, breastless.  Makes life easier.

Of course, saying "I want to look like a child" gets you some WEIRD looks and comments.

Generally A cup or smaller. It depends on what look the person is trying to achieve. Being 'androgynous looking' could either mean no visible secondary sex traits, or secondary sex traits of both sexes.
For someone going for the latter look, A cup is fine if they are a larger person. A smaller person desiring some 'breast' should probably go for an AA cup.
B cup is not androgynous looking seeing as it is the standard, most common breast size in genetic females (in the US at least). Anything larger is obviously not androgynous looking either.

I wouldn't necessarily want to look like a child. I just wish that I'd had NO puberty. I assume I would have grown to a lesser height, have a full head of hair, softer facial features, and a nicer voice. I think it would be perfect, but I'll never know.  I think I've learned to let it go.

People hear "I want to look prepubescent" and think "five year old."

Can be problematic.

I don't think it matters whether one has breasts or not to appear androgynous. I'd personally be OK with having breasts, so as to look slightly less male, but that's me.  :)

im in the wanting charicteristics of both sexes camp, though ive always had just under an A cup which is not easy growing up with them (being male bodyed) i can tell you. now im starting to come to really like my breasts and would like them a little more defined and dont mine showing them off now. female tops tend to do that anyway. i can understand the pre pubesant thing as i have a school photo of me at about 11-12 that is really andro and you canrt tell if its a boy or a girl. i have been using this in my therpy session to find the place when i started to be unhappy and it was after that. im now trying to get back to that look.

While larger breasts are definitely a feminine trait they are not necessarily the most prominent physical indicator of gender.  Facial features and hair, along with general body shape are more significant indicators.  A person's face and hair are generally the first things we notice about them.

At the risk of being flippant (like usual?), this discussion brings a question to mind.

We're shopping at the mall (of course) when we see a person about 15 feet away.  This person has a beard and has a set of Double-Ds.  Besides the "something's not right" feeling this may give you, which characteristic initially defines their sex in your mind...the beard or the boobs?  Why?  Do you have any question that is may be a girl with whiskers, or do you just assume it is a guy with (probably) fake breasts?  Again, why?

Just curious, but it is an interesting observation on how we assign sex to someone we don't know.

Ya put your right foot in.  You put your right foot out.  You put your right foot in and you shake it all about.  You do the Andro-gyney and you turn yourself around.  That's what it's all about.

I have seen a woman with a full beard. She identifies as a woman, so now I assume female before male.

I voted Flat through A cup. A lot of smaller breasted genetic women look more androgynous to me even if they are really trying to be feminine. I think budding breasts looks very androgynous. On man, woman, boy, girl, or androgyne.
