Thousands of transsexuals had long since had their identities - and marriages - administratively recognized in Texas by 1999, in Kansas by 2002 and in Florida by 2004.  That didn’t stop appellate courts in those states from using the anti-gay marriage backlash to wipe out trans marriages and trans identities.
