Hi Everyone,

I know its difficult to say but I am looking for an opinion on whether or not the affects of HRT do anything for me, and also whether you think I would be likely to require FFS.
I have not started HRT, so I am completely in guy mode at the moment.

I've added some photos of me in guy mode and i would just like to know how feminine you think my face is already. I'm just not quite sure. My receding hairline worries me a bit.

How difficult it would be to transition my features to female? Also I'm 26. Thanks.

Better starting point then me, younger too.

How much can HRT effect the way you look, here is my example:

Newest picture of me is on the top 1.8yrs HRT.

You are starting off in a way better point then I did.  You might not need FFS, but i am getting it anyway to fix a few things, its up to you.

From what I can tell your eyebrows will need to be arched and defined. If you grow out your hair, you can do a side part with your bangs to try to give the impression of a lower hairline. Your jawline seems quite feminine to me and maybe a little bit of contouring with a bronzer can help feminize it a little bit. I can't suggest anything for your side profile as I'm having issues with that myself.

As far as FFS goes, I'm under the impression that it has to be dramatic in order to merit spending that much money on it. As it stands, I don't think you need it.

Thank you for the compliment.
I am really new to this and quite a bit unsure of my options at this stage but your pics help.

BTW, you look really good in your pics. HRT obviously works :)

Thanks. Also with the side profile, do you think the jawline is the problem?

I think your jaw looks fine currently, but if you're worried about it I'd just wait until after starting HRT to see if you need anything done.

I think you have some good features to start with... I would suggest giving HRT a chance to work it's magic first and then decide later on FFS or not

Oh, and we do allow smiling here  ;D

HRT will do several things for you, just as for any other trans woman transitioning after adolescence. To me, I think the effects as largely preventative: preventing hair loss and development of more and more body hair. The main changes are breast growth (frustratingly slow, but it's there) and a dramatic change in sex drive. There are some other subtle changes -- somewhat different and less offensive b.o.; lither and less bulky (and generally weaker) muscles; a bit more subcutaneous fat; possibly a very slight difference in the quality of sound produced by my vocal folds, though that's hard to say; and some other subtle emotional changes (hard to distinguish from those caused by transitioning in general).

The main thing for me is to prevent any more damage from testosterone. If you're worried about hair loss, then HRT should probably be your priority.

As for FFS, I can't tell you. My process for making that decision is to try living full-time as a woman without FFS, and see how that goes. I've found it goes very well -- it's a huge improvement over living as a guy -- but I still want FFS. Others know either that they will want FFS, or that they won't, but if you're asking, I'm guessing you're like me. I could comment on your photos, but I think you know your face better than I do, and you know how you want to look. I would encourage you to see how well you can present as a woman now. Come out to some girl friends, and let them help you find looks that work for you. As you live into a female role, you'll find some things comfortable and some uncomfortable. You'll learn what aspects of your presentation matter to you. There's just no substitute.

But if you think you might want FFS in the future, then just assume that you will, at least for financial purposes: Start saving now. The worst that can happen is that you'll decide you'd rather blow the money on a wild weekend in Vegas ... or a Himalayan expedition ... or a Honda Civic -- whatever you want.
All changes, even the most longed for, have their melancholy; for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves; we must die to one life before we can enter another.
