Some good news...losing weight!

(1/2) > >>

jmax:
I have such a horrible time losing weight (and I need to lose a good bit of it), so I was really surprised and rather ecstatic when I went to see my sleep doctor this week and found out I'd lost six pounds (almost half a stone for those across the big lake)!  I will probably lose a bit more right now too, because I've come down with a cold and when I'm sick, a lot of times I lose weight.  It's the one good thing about being sick, I can eat whatever I want, as much as I want, and I lose weight...except sometimes when sick, I don't really feel like eating much (unless they put me on a steroid).  Okay, that was rambly.

I wonder if the weight loss might be because I'm using a cpap machine now.  A lady who works with the company I got my machine from said that sleep apnea can really slow your metabolism down.  She said, if you notice on The Biggest Loser, all of them are using cpap machines.  I did some research on it and apparently sleep apnea can slow your metabolism down by up to almost 40%.

What I find frustrating, is for instance... There's this girl I know who's like a size 2 (and I'm like a 2X-3X).  She can sit there and eat a whole big bag of cookies.  I'll eat one cookie and try to make it last as long as possible.  And yet, at any other time, random strangers would think that I'm the one with the self-control problem, that I'm the one who sits around stuffing my face with Twinkies all day, that I'm the lazy glutton who can't control myself around food.

I didn't mean to turn this into a rant!  I'm still ecstatic over losing the six pounds.  ;D

Congrats man! My grandma is one of those small people who can eat and not gain weight. Seriously even when I eat three balanced meals a day I gain weight but she eats huge portions all day and never gains a pound! Ah but anyways congrats on the weight loss man!

I can eat a whole box of Twinkies and not gain a pound.  No shens.

Can't remember the last time I had a Twinkie.  Chemicals made to look like food. *shudder*

Thanks.

My sister had a friend like that in high school.  This friend could eat anything.  She had the flattest chest, she hated it, but I was always so envious.  An acquaintance of mine has a friend who's really really skinny.  She's got some sort of really bad health problem; one effect of it is that she can't gain weight.  She gets really aggravated because people are always accusing her of having anerexia.

It's funny how society works.  The only thing I've ever been accused of is having a high metabolism.  Then again, I look like a guy.  But I'm smaller than every guy that I know.  I'm even smaller than most girls I know.  I've only ever met a few girls who weighed less than I do.
