Jordan Gray, who was born male but is in the process of transitioning, will sing Bob Dylan’s “Just Like A Woman” on Saturday’s episode of the British version of the Voice, The Sun reports. She was tipped as a possible winner.
Gray, who is thought to be the first openly transgender contestant on a UK singing show, says: “I can’t believe I used to put on a suit and tie for my gigs.” She started taking hormones this year and has been performing for ten years, eight of them as man.
She came out publicly as transgender in 2014, after winning best original act at an Essex singing contest. Now it is the first thing Jordan tells audiences, saying it’s important they don’t think her appearance is part of her act because “I’m a female, not a drag queen”.
