My favorite superhero? Guys like Spiderman or Daredevil that were actually beat up once in a while seemed way more interesting then a character like Superman who had super speed, vision, death ray eyes, freeze breath, couldn't be hurt, flew for no apparent reason and probably 100 other abilities which I blanked out on.
Maybe a better one to choose was Hank McCoy the original Beast (Pre Blue Fur) who abilities seemed to be that he was smart, a little stronger then your average guy and had big feet which he used to jump and bounce around rooms with. Oh! I think he could balance on one finger. Agility? I'm remembering problems the original X-Men had like How does Hank find shoes that don't hurt? Superman never had to ponder any actual questions like that. Even his tights and cape were "super" Wonder if this meant he couldn't wash them thus he had super smell?
In the X-Men Angel flapped his wings and could fly around. Superman??? How did he fly? Was it super powered fartgas? And running faster then the speed of light... Really? Because he was born under a red sun. At least being a mutant with Wings seemed slightly possible.
When everything in Marvel turned blue grey fangs or shot knives for no reason and became Infinite and went to secret wars and alternate multi universes and became omnipotent etc it all became Super(man) level unreadable.
Give me a superhero who goes to high school has trouble meeting girls, is broke and works for a mean newspaper guy and has Jock - jerks giving him a hard time because he is a science nerd...
