Great post Oh Hai, I've been trying to redo my playlist for running since I've been listening to the same stuff all the time.

My list is mostly System of a Down, all the albums I have on my ipod.

How can you not run fast when this song comes on?

There's also a Pure '80s mix in there.

The Mars Volta, and Slipknot.

My current favorite cooldown song is Alt-J's Taro.

When I do yoga, I mostly just do DVDs which have a kind of Asian sorta background music. When I do it on my own, I prefer something kind of relaxing like Snatam Kaur.

Weightlifting, I like metal, so it'd be something like Slipknot, Metallica, Godhead.

Metal.  The heavier the better.  I don't do weights anymore, but if I go hiking, metal seems to motivate me to move faster.

I play that electronic dance music for cardio workouts. I listen to no music for weight machines, and bicycling.

Workout wise, I like to run/jog, walk (long ones), swim, and take bike rides. I have a few different songs I like to listen to depending on my mood. But I have been listening to mainly upbeat and positive songs. Trying to use the endorphins from exercise and the joy of music to beat away my blues.

My "Outside" playlist :-)

"Step Out" - Jose Gonzalez
"Cruel" - The Veronicas
"You Ruin Me" - The Veronicas
"Pale Moon" - Shannon McNally
"Dear Prudence" - The Beatles
"Little Black Dress" - Sara Bareilles
"Space Oddity" - David Bowie
"Change" - David Bowie
"Ziggy Stardust" - David Bowie
"Come Sail Away" - Styx
"Mr. Roboto" - Styx
"Renegade" - Styx
"Really Don't Care" - Demi Lovato
"Warrior" - Demi Lovato
"All These Things That I've Done" - The Killers
"Mr. Blue Sky" - ELO
"Livin' Thing" - ELO
"So Serious" - ELO
"So What" - Pink
"Float On" - Modest Mouse
"Come And Get Your Love" - Redbone
"Don't Do Me Like That" - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
"Cherry Bomb" - The Runaways
"Who Knew" - Pink
"I Want You Back" -Jackson 5
"This Is The Stuff" - Francesca Battistelli
"Bad Blood" - Taylor Swift
"I'm learning to be brave in my beautiful mistakes"- Pink

I use either a 1hr loop of the "battle" theme from Future Diary (Gasai Yuno), or a loop with a sword art online theme.  They both have the right tempo, and a kind of driving, percussive but steady pulse.

Which is what you need when you sit on a stationary bike for a couple hours.

If I want modern Western music and tempo variety, I'll generally run with a complete album, in order, from like Nightwish or something.

When I gotta move; it's time to straight up freak out!

Arch enemy-
My apocalypse
Never forgive, never forget
Against me! -
New wave
I was a teenage anarchist
The mover
White crosses
Horse the band -
Face of bear
New york city
Megadeth -
Tornado of souls
Hangar 18
Peace sells
Symphony of destruction
Countdown to extinction
Patti smith -
Dancing barefoot
Pissing in a river

Those songs, on shuffle, can motivate me to do almost any physical feat.
Higher, faster, further, more
