Ah yes, bread! Well I have reactions to most breads nowadays, gives me the bloat and is just not something I can handle  much of anymore. I think that the flour we use is causing a gluten reaction and drives me crazy. If I am in Europe, South America or in parts of Asia,  the bread over there does not effect me in the same way. Even the pasta in Italy is really good, here the gluten/pasta gets me bloated as well. However in the last year what I found that really makes a difference is a good homemade sourdough. I can a piece of 2 with no side effects, I still prefer to only a small amount. It appears after trying to find out why, it has to do with the long fermenting process that makes the difference. If anyone has gluten issues and like to make bread, sourdough maybe an option.

if you're eating enough bread to be worried about your caloric intake, just do more cardio to balance it out.

i'm not sure how people think you'll gain muscle doing cardio.  you will a LITTLE bit at first if you are an inactive person taking up the activity for the first time, but it really should be pretty minimal and the tiny amount of muscle gain should plateau pretty quickly.  unless maybe if you're doing high intensity cardio or sprinting which can add a bit more muscle, or if you're doing a lot of cycling which can add mass and pump the legs up a bit.

This sounds right to me.  Plus the exercise might help if you're feeling depressed.

I love bread and true confession: I love white bread.  I will eat the trashiest white bread without blinking an eye. 

Maybe it would help if you didn't think about it as an addiction?  Bread and other starchy foods have helped humans survive for a long time and it's not surprising that we love it.  Maybe eating a lot of bread is not optimal, but it's not like you're drinking a bottle of vodka in one sitting. 

I would love to be in France and having fresh croissants available all the time.  Then I would have a real bread problem.
