Pelvic Widening under the Age of 25!
« on: February 16, 2014, 10:19:46 am »
Hey Gurrrllss,

i know that this is a hot Topic for us T-Girls. Having hips the same width as the shoulders is sometimes very important to pass and that was one of the reasons why I started HRT so early (Age 12).
It definitely stunted my height and stopped my shoulders from widening. My pelvis got broader thats for sure, but my hips are still a little bit smaller than my shoulders :-\(not by much 2 Inch Maximum). Yesterday i asked my mother if its normal to happen and she said that she had the same Problem as a teen but that her hips (Bones!) widened again in her early twenties. ??? Now im confused.???
I thought that cis-girls growth-plates fuse around Age 15! Do you think my hip-bones can widen again? Some People say after Age 18 cis-males don't grow anymore and some say till 25 you have a decent Chance of hip widening  :-\

Quote
What HRT cannot change[edit]
HRT cannot reverse bone changes that have already been established by puberty. Consequently, total height, the length of the arms, legs, hands, and feet, and the width/size of the shoulders and rib cage are all not affected by HRT. However, details of bone shape change throughout life, with bones becoming heavier and more deeply sculptured under the influence of androgens, and HRT will prevent such changes from developing any further.
The width of the hips are not affected in individuals in whom epiphyseal closure (fusion and closure of the ends of bones, which prevents any further lengthening) has taken place, an event which occurs in most people between 18 and 25 years of age. In addition, already established changes to the shape of the hips cannot be reversed by HRT whether epiphyseal closure has taken place yet or not.
Already established changes to the sculpture of the bone structure of the face are not affected by HRT, nor is the prominence of the thyroid cartilage (Adam's apple) affected. These changes may be reversed by surgery (facial feminization surgery and tracheal shave, respectively) instead.
During puberty, the voice deepens in pitch and becomes more resonant, effects which are permanent and are not affected by HRT. Voice therapy and optionally surgery may be used instead to achieve a more female sounding voice.
Facial hair develops during puberty, and this is a change that is not significantly affected by HRT. Facial hair may be permanently removed with electrolysis or laser hair removal instead.

Here a Video i found of a post-op transgender woman:

Her pelvis is definitely female wide and her hips are wide set. She also has this gap between her legs, because of her high Q-Angle. She claims to started HRT at AGE 18!

You write exceptionally well for someone so young. I don't know much about pelvic changes after a certain age, but after 18, no. Unless you're intersex, pubrty is 99 percent complete by 18. Have you seen 18-year-old cis men on college campuses, they are not these little femme things. They are manly with with big shoulders, hands, feet and small hips. I check the out a lot. They are young looking but many are far more masculine than I was even when taking steroids to rid my dysphoria. All it did was cause boils all over my face and where my face was once fresh and smooth, it's now pock marked and i'll need some resurfacing. But first, I'm using retin-A for the scars (they are not to deep at all) and metrogel for some redness. I will see what happens. I would want it even if I wasn't trans. I'm very vain.

Being so young, you may have a chance for a wide pelvis, but from what I understand, and I might be wrong, the pelvis' width is determined by genes and you would need to be XX. Not all girls have wide pelvises hence the advent of C-sections. I'm lucky in that my shoulders are 13.5 inches from bone to bone and my hips, if I'm measuring right, are about 13 inches across.

I guess you are outside the US because here it is illegal to give someone young HRT I think. I only thought you got GnRH inhibitors.

I started at Age 12! Look :https://www.susans.org/forums/index.php/topic,159498.0.html
Now im 18. ;)

Oh, I was not questioning you or accusing you, I just thought you lived outside the US, which you do! You are very lucky. I wish i was 12 when the internet cameinto being but unfortunately was 20 when all these sites popped up. Now I'm 31. I console myself that at least I'm not masculine at all and I can still have a half-life where maybe good stuff happens. But congrats. take advantage of all your blessings. I'm so happy for you. That's awesome. Be caeful on some of the self-med talk, but I totally understand and would have done it to if I had the chance. Instead, I did heroin. So,m given the choice between self-medding and heroin, I think self-medding is the better choice. I hope I din't violate rules, I'm just saying the lack of access to trans care in the USA turned me into a junkie. I dragon that still swoops down and grabs me, whisking me off to his bedroom, where I nod out into opiate dreams even thoguh I'm wide awake. the drug is the scourge of the earth.

I would bet it's like anything else regarding puberty - there are average ages and outcomes, but somebody's always going to be on the earlier or later edge of it. I know cis girls who were still seeing breast development into their mid-20s, for example.

The one blessing is that it's not really the pelvic width that gives the impression of hips, it's the fat deposits. (Except on someone so seriously slim that bone *is* all that's jutting out at their pelvis, but on that sort of girl lack of "curves" will also be expected by an observer, because she's so thin.) I started HRT at 32 and right now my shoulder width is 16" and my hip width is 18" (both measured across the front rather than all the way around). I'm 100% certain that bones didn't change, but to any outside observer it's still going to look like my shoulder and "hips" are approximately the same size.

As young as you are, I'd guess there's still a bit of fat development left to go, as there often is for 18-year-old cis girls.

I can only speak for myself:
I first self meded with birth control at the age of 19, started "real" HRT at 20, and eventually was followed by an endo and got a real prescription
As far as hip widening, I did in fact experience quite a good amount!
When I started wearing feminin clothing, hrt, coming etc I was made to feel very anxious due to my "inferior" measurements. I cannot off the top of my head recall what they were but they were very "manly" and it made me cry. After some time on HRT however my BONE widened considerably (by 6 months in for sure!) and as time goes on and I gain weight I am also gaining significant amounts of fat there as well. My current waist measured 28 inches and my hips measure an astounding 38! I am 22 now and am really hoping for even more growth!!! wish me luck <3

ps I am far from perfect; although the bone grew noticeable for some reason my left hip is more wide/curvier than the right, and that 38 inch measurement was 36 until I gained about 13 pounds (the post op vegetate, relax, and eat stage is what I blame it on aha!)
Also, my whole pelvis its self is somewhat "boy-ish." It would be hard for me to explain it without a visual, but woman pelvises tend to be wider and shorter, although mine is *almost* in line with an equivalent cis girls width it is definitely "taller" so sometimes when I am wearing something tight fitting I get a mini hit of dysphoria and dysphoric thought such as "omg I should have done this sooner" etc. Of course I am the only one who notices these things!  ::)

TL;DR : Hip widening CAN occur, but to increase the likelyhood of such a thing get on HRT ASAP and hope you are still young!!!

Yup I also agree that your hips (fat) get wider if your lucky on hrt at a good age. I know I got some hips (wanted more hips so I got 50cc fat transfer)

Idk for me mine did at and I hrt started at 21..went from 34" to 40". And I was underweight when I started hrt however it took me over a year and a half to gain 15lbs. Before that my hips were at like a 38, 4 months in on hrt. So I know for sure its not just all fat. Still pretty skinny.

I hope you don't mind a guy stepping in here.

For me personally my hips were slightly larger than my shoulders pre-T. I was 160lb and 5'1" which put me over weight. Currently they are about the same width as my shoulders. As far as hips go it is more about shape than ratio. As proof I don't pass well when I don't wear a shirt that isn't long enough because the shape of my hips is more female than male.

There does appear to be some empirical evidence that starting HRT young can effect the hips. A possible example is the sex industry star Danielle Foxx. She has amazing hips. There are others in that industry that seem to also have wide hips.

Here another example of a T-Girl with a wide pelvis:

By the way i had my appointment with my endocrinologist today and i asked him about the hip widening. He said that hip broading can occur under the Age of 30 and many patients of him experienced this aswell. The so called Fat Deposits on the hips that is greatly noticeable in younger patients <30 is actually skeletal hip widening. He also said that it helps when you cycle natural progestrone every month 2 weeks Long, to relax the ligaments and stuff. He also took a blood test of me. In a week i have my Hormone results. After that i hope he can give me a prescription for the hormones..

my hips have widened since I started HRT at age twenty one, and I've grown at least 4 inches in that time.  Growth can happen well into the twenties

Everyone's body is different. But for most the pelvic bones do not fuse until the mid twenties. For some even near 30. So you have an excellent chance of having further widening as you age.

The widening happens at the front by adding bone length to the pubic bones in the center on each side of the pubic symphysis. Also the calcification will occur more on the ischium bones moving them out more verticle. This together will make the hip socket further out from the center of the body.

It's so awesome you got to start so young. So wish that was an option when I was young. Well we all have our lives to live.

I was born with a female skeleton. Yes there is actually such a difference. I have a naturally wide pelvis as my sacrum is wide and my ilium flare outward. However I missed out on female puberty so my hips sit under my ilium. I so wish I had gotten some spreading as I wish I had that perfect female rear end.  :D

So what I've learned from some doctors is that our bones take on certain shapes early in pregnancy. Certain bones shape gets changed when testosterone is present. The shape of the knee joint changes the knee pivot angle. Elbows get a much smaller difference. The biggest thing is the width of the sacrum to the spinal base and the angle of the scrum to the ilium. The sacroiliac joint forms different. Basically the male skeleton starts with a narrower sacrum. The sacroiliac joint is set more verticle and is taller. This sets the male skeleton up for a narrow and rigid pelvis shape. The knees are less angled so the legs sit just right with the pelvic width. This makes the adult male skeleton strong and wear resistant. The female skeleton has much more movement in the sacroiliac joints and is wider in the sacrum. The sacrum sits at a much more rearward angle. This makes room for birth later in life. The knees are much more angled so the lower legs are straight when the adult pelvis is grown. My knees came together and I cannot touch my feet together. The greater knee angle puts more wear and pressure on the tendons. This is why women athletes have a much higher incident of knee injuries.

All those pre birth shapes don't mean a lot when you get female hormones young. You can grow into a perfectly appearing female shape. I envy you for that. Enjoy being you and never let anyone tell you that you are anything but right.
