Labeling others
« on: September 22, 2014, 11:57:41 pm »
I do not want to see anyone telling someone else that their gender, sexuality identity, or self-identity is/or is not valid.

From the Terms of Service:

Every one is welcome at Susan's Place provided you follow a few basic rules: This site is an open support area, and is not generally sexually oriented. The purpose of this site is to provide peer support, and to provide a forum for the discussion of issues related to gender and may include <not allowed>, Transvestism, Crossdressing, or other related topics. This web site exists to offer constructive input and support.

This runs hand in hand with rule 10...

10. Bashing or flaming of any individuals or groups is not acceptable behavior on this web site and will not be tolerated in the slightest for any reason.  This includes but is not limited to:
  • Advocating the separation or exclusion of one or more group from under the Transgender umbrella term
  • Suggesting or claiming that one segment or sub-segment of our community is more or less legitimate, deserving, or real than any others

We present information about the gender spectrum, and people should be able to figure out where they fit on their own. No one should be telling anyone else where or what that may be for them.

I also want to remind people that I do not want anyone recommending specific medical proceedures or courses of action to someone else beyond suggesting that the person may want to talk to a physician; or a therapist or psychologist that specializes in gender issues.

This prohibition also includes offering unsolicited advice that tells someone else they "need to transition," or should take other specific actions in their lives that have the potential to negatively affect the individual's life or their families..
