How long can you get a Phalloplasty?
« on: May 06, 2016, 11:33:28 pm »
I'm just wondering. Cause I've heard you can pick your size. But do they have a limit? Cause I'd like to have one around 7 inches or so. But I've heard the don't recommend anything above 6 inches. Why's that? Also If they do allow me to get maybe above 6 inches then would surgery be longer and harder recovery? I pretty much want to know everything about Phalloplasty. Thanks.

Regards to size 3.5 or 4 inches is recommended because that's the size of the average cis man. Just because you have a bigger penis doesn't mean you're going to have better sex or be more self confident. I was watching a documentary about trans men and one of the surgeons said; in regards to trans men wanting a larger size; 'Were not making porn stars' :D
They/them pronouns preferred.

It entirely depends on the donor site you choose. You are restricted to whatever size they can give you based on that. The big limitation is the forearm - you're confined to the length of your forearm, minus a few inches where the harvest the leash. I'm not sure what the restrictions are as far as size for the thigh or back. Those are the three primary donor sites being used currently. Abdominal is still used but less commonly and by only a few surgeons. The largest I have ever seen is 7", and his came from the thigh.

In general, smaller is recommended for a few reasons:

(1) You're that size all the time. Unlike cis guys who get bigger when erect, you are permanently that big. It can be inconvenient and it would take a while to get used to how to place yourself in certain clothes.

(2) Blood flow. It is much easier to re-establish blood supply in 4-5" than in 7+". It's important not only for the health of the phallus as a whole, but also the neo-urethra if you opt for urethral lengthening.

(3) Gravity/weight/support. Like with blood flow, it is much easier to support something that is 4-5" and weighs several ounces less than something that is 7+".

I don't think size impacts surgery recovery. Obviously you would have a larger donor site to care for post-op, and you would possibly be at a greater risk for necrosis if the blood supply doesn't re-establish well.

I was curious about this myself. I hear they now are making penile implants for cismen I wonder if you could get one after phalloplasty has healed.

FinntheInfinncible and uppercaseCHASE1 have made videos talking about how phalloplasty is done, with Finn documenting his recovering from RFF phallo on his Youtube channel. You can check out their videos for more on how that works.

I think this answer contains pretty much all the info you require.

thanks I'll have to take a look at those videos.

This is a bit awkward for me to ask but does anyone know were I could see a phallopasty in comparison to a cis-mens penis? (without getting into porn territory/strictly medical images) I haven't seen a lot of penis so I would like to see how aesthetically a phallopasty compares.  :embarrassed:

If you mean an erectile implant, then yes. That is an option, it is usually performed at a second or third stage after the initial creation of the phallus in the first stage. It has a high complication rate, and you'd potentially need to get it replaced every decade or so, but if you want to have penetrative sex it is highly recommended.

If you look on transbucket, there are post-op pictures of phalloplasties in various stages of completion. I'm sure you can find non-pornographic pictures of cismen with the right combination of words on google.

I would be to scared of complication to get a erectile implant.

thanks, I had never heard of transbucket.

Hmm. Looking at it, I don't see why not. But I don't know if there would be any issues combining it with the other options involved in phalloplasty. I imagine in many ways it would probably present the same kinds of complications as an erectile implant. Definitely a good question for a surgeon. I should be seeing mine in the next month or two, I can ask him if you'd like.
