Question about women's workouts
« on: July 14, 2016, 05:37:27 am »
There's an app called Women's Workout: Home Gym Cardio that focuses on weight loss and toning, but I don't know if it will do anything for me. I was just going to try waking to lose weight, but then I found this. Some of the exercises involve dumbbells or water bottles if you don't have any, but would that be a bad idea? Would this even work since I have a male body?

Saying that it's for women is just marketing. Exercise works whether your body is male or female.

agreed, if you want to exercise to burn fat walking is a great thing to do. as for Cardio i think is anything that gets your heart rate up. if you want to build muscle then use weights.

XX muscle tissue is identical to XY muscle tissue.  Light weights and water bottles are generally a waste of time unless you start out extremely weak and can't lift anything heavier.

I just think it will be easier for you to gain muscle, assuming you're pre HRT.
Trying to take it one day at a time :)

Yes.  That is definitely true.  I have met some very strong women though.  One in my office that was around 5'5" and maybe 140 lbs was deadlifting 305 lbs.

The myth is that women have to be weak.

I would think that exercise focused on accentuating the feminine form are those one would want to consider. Stuff like squats, hip extensions, glute bridge, reverse hyperextensions, bird dogs, hip thrusts, etc. Don't forget running. ;)

Since you said that you want to lose weight, diet is the single most important thing to do. Eat vegetables. I have been there and done that. I lost about 125 pounds total. Exercise helps, but keep the weights low and repetitions high. And do a lot of aerobic anything. Aerobic exercise is the best exercise for losing weight.
