They don't.  That's one of the major drawbacks of light-based hair removal: you need dark hair and light skin.

Lilly you could try an IPL but it might take a lot more applications if your hair is light. I don't think the color above the skin really matters. You are supposed to shave so only the hair below the skin gets treated anyway.

I also bought a Remington IlightPro. I believe it is starting to work on some of the hair. Mine were very think and dark except for the ever appearing grey ones. Lol So on power level five it bites when there are live hairs under the light window. Face hurts really bad. I have to take a break after 3 or 4 hits from it. But I have noticed more of the dark hairs are not held on to the root anymore. Some just pull out easy if I try a bit with tweezers so I'm hopeful it's going to work over time. It was less than $200US so not terrible on the budget compared to electrolysis sessions.

Thanks everyone that commented on this topic.
After researching a bunch and then following this topic here, I'm going to give IPL a shot for my underarms and bikini area.  My facial hair is to grey for IPL, but not the other areas.

I read a lot and dont chime in often, so again a thank you to everyone that takes the time to share a bit.

Best.

The only powerful device on the market is the Tria as its a laser not an IPL. However its a very small area, but is useable all over the body.
This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for the faith-departed
I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice
When I shout it out loud
It's my life
It's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said
I did it my way
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
