Topic: Witches: Does your transness play a part in your craft?

I'm curious, because being trans plays basically no part in my craft if any at all. Also, what parts and how? I'm a storm witch mostly and I don't see any openings in my craft for gender to really play a part.

i rambled a bit but my point is:
much like my gender, my religion (such as it is) is pulled together myself, built from myself and my needs and emotions
it is very much ah
not prepackaged, i guess
so i suggest that you do the same

'pop-culture' storm magic (i hope i have that right?) not working for you?

pick up the pieces that you want
and sweep the ones that'll only cut you into the trash
then get more shards, if you need them

This description of Certain Paths (not naming any names) is a true thing of beauty.

Personally, my gender woobliness doesn't play a big role in my practice. I worship a very masculine male war deity, who considers my struggles with mental illness and dysphoria as a very real war to be fought and survived. He doesn't really care where along the spectrum I fall as long as I fight in his name (against the aforementioned mental illness) and spread the good word (which I do as often as I can).

I was always taught that magic happens in the places in between, hence the symbolism of the triad. The This, the That, and the Neither/Both. My mother and Grandmother said that twilight and dawn are the most open times for magic and that fall and spring the most open seasons. Samhain and Beltane are the times when the veil between the worlds is at it's thinnest. They also taught that androgynous and trans people make the most powerful practitioners.

I feel that my being trans as always played a big part in my spirituality, I ask Goddess for her strength and guidance in facing the everyday issues of being and to help me stay centred and to guide me in my interactions in this world towards others in regard to the "Wiccan rede" and the law of the 3,  to help me to continue to learn and to grow within myself and to draw power from my higher self in my relationship with her!
IMHO, Being trans makes us different and special in many ways and as witches we know that all things or intertwined (the web) and there's significance in all things. We were born a certain way maybe bc we were meant to be this way! maybe even chosen but certainly not less than we should've been as many sadly feel they are!
If we celebrate and embrace that we are trans and find our inner connection with Goddess and God, the univers will certainly bless us.

That in-between quality is called being 'liminal' and it pops up in all kinds of superstitions and religious and cultural practices. Like not standing in doorways, or brides being vulnerable to fairy interference on their wedding day because they are in the process of changing from single to married. It's actually a really interesting belief that underpins a lot of Celtic folklore. I incorporate a lot of it in my own practice.
