Avocados and estrogen absorption: Need professional advice
« on: January 07, 2017, 09:50:40 pm »
A while back I read that there's something in avocados that blocks the absorption of estrogen. My reaction at the time was to eliminate them from my diet, but I would like to know if perhaps I'm worrying too much about this effect. Does anyone with a science background have a better understanding of this that could perhaps explain to me whether I'm making much ado about nothing? I miss guacamole

P.S. I know that avocados are fairly high in potassium. I don't plan to eat them every day. Too expensive in the midwest for that anyway.

I have been eating a fair bit of avocado - it's cheap and readily available in Australia - can't say it has had any impact on my estrogen levels that I'm aware of.

No problems with avocados. It is grapefruit and its juice that is known to interfere with estradiol and other drugs.

What about orange juice?

There is the problem, leaving it half done.

Harvey Wallbanger
4.5 cL (3 parts) Vodka
1.5 cL (1 part) Galliano
9 cL (6 parts) fresh orange juice
Stir the vodka and orange juice with ice in the glass, then float the Galliano on top. Garnish and serve.
