From this Commentary on the directive over at Boing Boing

Quote
...
Reality's well-known left-wing bias is a giant problem for the right. The anti-vaccine movement, the pro-fracking movement, the gun lobby can only exist in the midst of ontological chaos, in which sincerely held beliefs are weighed alongside experimentally verified hypotheses and some "balance" of the two is found. "On the one hand, Southern California is on fire and Puerto Rico is under water. On the other hand, you find it hard to believe that God would punish us for burning hydrocarbons. The truth is somewhere in the middle."

Perhaps we should all write a letter to the president using all of these words many many times. Might spark change.

By all means, write him a letter.  I don't think he's accustomed to reading anything longer than a 140-character Tweet, though!

You know after reading the article I kind of agree with President Trump. Note... Wait for the tomatoes and rotten eggs. ::)

But to be honest he withdrew two anti gay marriage judges from appointments. As for being labeled other than a human or person, what makes me so special that I need to be labeled as "transgender" specifically? Why can't I just be another person in society? Nothing special just another "Jane Doe"? I do know I am a trans woman I really don't need special privileges for that  or a special title. I just want the freedom to be me with the law against those that may want to harm me as a deterrent.

I really think a lot of people aren't really get what he is trying to do and I know I will get a rotten tomato right between the eyes for saying that but damn everyone just think about it. This guy has done business and was quite successful at it and does no one think that he don't have LGBTs that worked for him? This man was a democrat before he ran as a republican. Well he is pro second amendment and pro constitution so.... Hard to run as a democrat and win when you support the second amendment. But to me Trump is more Libertarian but with the exception of our enemies and staying out of a fight. But then again  with different cultures and one being North Korea and I was there during my contracted time minus six months back stateside and there is a difference between how they handle conflict compared to the U.S. I was privy to some ROK basic Training and they got hit and kicked. When I went through Basic the only thing the Drill Sergeants could do was push and maneuver us and if we fell then oh well. When I was squad leader in Basic I had the brim of the "round brown"  hitting me right at the bridge of my nose. But I was never kicked or punched. Has anyone ever heard of the "Tiger Soldiers" in Vietnam? I have. So yeah all the "big talk" with North Korea is probably coming from some Generals that have served in South Korea and know the culture.

But as for using the term transgender? I don't want to be called out as a specific in the world. I just want to be another human and that is all. My BF and I are not married and we are not Hollywood stars and we would love to adopt but we are not quite the perfect couple because we are not married or have plenty of money and not Hollywood stars. He is a cop and I am a truck driver/OO. I remember Obama saying something like "punished with a baby". Well don't be punished. Give it up for adoption because there are many out there loving and willing to adopt. And when you have straight sex you know that may well be a consequence. So anyone that feels they may be "punished" by having a good time then use Birth Control and a Condom.

Everyone hates Trump yet Hillary and Obama both against gay marriage before they were for it. The only reason they were for it was because they wanted the votes yet the Republican Party has their own extension of LGBTs. The Democratic party doesn't have anything similar. But we are supposed to take their word for it? I maybe would have before Obama and Hillary stated their stance on gay marriage but not now. How many LGBTs did Trump Employee before he ran and had to sign his corporation over? How many LGBTs did the Clinton Global Initiative employee?

Follow the facts not political views. Fact is all I want to be labeled is just human. Fact is that my BF and I have been together for 10 years and would love to be loving parents but I am trans and he is a cop and has firearms in the house, even locked up in a gun safe, and we are not married. So we are not good candidates for adopting a child. So there is a lot of double standards, half truths and lies just plain going around. I actually saw this post as a positive for Pres. Trump but... We know how politics distort and spin things.

Just sayin'. ::)

He did not ban the words, according to the Director of the CDC:

After firestorm, CDC director says terms like “science-based” are not banned
Friday night report set off an uproar, but officials say it was “mischaracterization.”
BETH MOLE - 12/18/2017, 10:38 AM

The director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention fired off a series of tweets Sunday to try to quell fierce backlash from a Friday night report that the Trump administration had banned the agency from using certain terms in budget documents, including “science-based” and “diversity.”

“I want to assure you there are no banned words at CDC,” Director Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald‏ tweeted at the top of a thread Sunday morning, which is currently pinned.

Instead, several sources have tried to clarify that the language changes were merely suggestions to help make the agency’s budget more palatable to some Republicans and ease its passage.

The Friday report that sparked the firestorm was from The Washington Post, which said that the Trump administration had outright prohibited the CDC from using the seven following terms in its budget documents for next year: “vulnerable,” “entitlement,” “diversity,” “transgender,” “fetus,” “evidence-based,” and “science-based.” In some cases, CDC policy analysts were given alternative phrases and ways of, essentially, writing around the terms but conveying the same meaning. For instance, instead of “science-based,” the agency could write: “CDC bases its recommendations on science in consideration with community standards and wishes.”

Jenn that's all very well for you. Maybe you don't want medical transition and therefore don't care about research in that area. Maybe you  feel you pass adequately that you're at no additional risk of violence that most trans people face or perhaps you have a ccp and believe that's a solution (I choose to live in a state where that's not a viable option). Maybe you don't want funding for relevant health care statistics to be collected.

I and probably the majority of trans people disagree.

I'm not going to bother to address your assertions on politics because from where I stand you're dead wring and I expect it's unlikely we'll be able to do anything but agree to disagree on those matters. I will say that trump is no libertarian.

I've also read that the guidance at CDC was about funding and palatability of language to the Republican congressional majority. That fact speaks volumes about the sad state if affairs in Washington right now.

Also note that one of the words now to be avoided in funding requests is HIV. Trans people, especially trans women are far more likely to contract HIV than the general population, approximately 4x greater risk.

Hi Sarahthenerd,

I'm Laurie and I am sitting here wondering how you have managed to be here for three months and not be given one of our official greetings. Well Dearie, I am going to correct that right now. ((Hug)) Welcome to Susan's Place (very belatedly) Come on in. Here, let me hold that door for you and turn on the lights. This is the member lounge. It's much more comfy than those cold dark shadows you have been hiding in. There is coffee and hot water over on the counter, water from the tap, and there might be a soda or two in the fridge.
Now, with that said, you are free to take a good look around if you want.  Perhaps I can even get you to hop on over to the Introductions Thread and  create a post to tell us a little bit more about yourself so we can get to know you a little better and greet you properly. I'll add some links and information below that can help you get more out of our site. Please take time to become familiar with them especially the RED one as we are always getting questions that are answered there.

Then what is Donald Trump? The Dems hate him and apparently the Republicans hate him too. If you stop watching the news shows then you might figure it out.

Look funding in HIV is one of two things. Either you want to live or die. Ask me that same question. I will give you the truth.

As for DC it was way messed up before Donald Trump. The Government is the government and should not interfere in society and what directions society takes. We will change socially and one of the big deals about the constitution is the government not interfering other than or collective safety and the country in our country. I don't need nor want the government to declare me a protected class. My neighbors watch out for me and my property. But I have forged those relationships and it was not forced upon them because I was a protected label. They genuinely like me and I like them and they come over when I go there. Yeah a really big summer home. ::) A camper trailer and a 1950's mobile home that is only 10x45 but plenty of land. Not everyone wants to live in a half million+ apartment in Manhattan.

OK so HIV is serious but so is heart disease, diabetes, the Influenza virus in some areas, Malaria and many others. Why is HIV so politicized when more people are dying from cancer? Because whatever politics you subscribe in tell you to. I rolled the dice a while ago. I took my chances and will answer my own question to you. I don't care. If I live or die so what? roughly 300 million people are living and dying everyday in the US.  I would say that more people die everyday from drunk driving than die from AIDS every day. Or maybe just stupid driving in general.

So we live and then we die. how soon we die is sometimes up to our own choices. Cancer, smoking, driving, sky diving, rappelling or even jogging in the forests where mountain lions hunt. HIV and AIDS is a politically correct disease used while, no pun intended, riding the backs of LGBT folks. But not really a pun either because both parties are screwing us.

Do you really think any political party cares about you? You are only Sadie and just one name and one person in 300 million or more. I do care and others do care but we need to look past all the political affiliations and the political rhetoric to see who we are. Right now all we see is left of right in the US but most people are in the middle. Yet we let the parties separate us on certain issues that pertain to us. But in reality all the issues pertain to us and our daily lives. Take me for instance. I love shooting but hate hunting. I don't have the heart to kill but could if I was starving. So I am a staunch believer in the 2nd Amendment and have even had to pull a gun on someone to dissuade them from killing me. If I could not have had a .380 I probably would have been killed. The guy that had "the dime" on me wasn't even legally able to own a firearm. He was a convicted felon and did not expect a "tranny" to pull a gun instead of her wallet out of her purse. I will never forget that look in his eyes. He pissed his pants literally but my panties stayed dry. So being able to carry is a good thing.

How many people die everyday and what is the ratio of those dying from AIDS and remember HIV is different than AIDS? I think you would find that more die from drunk drivers than from AIDS but HIV is a politically correct cause and not a legitimately correct cause. to me, if I die then I die. It may be my time or toss of the dice and I really don't care. I won't fight it. That is nature. We are born, we live and then we die. We all can't live to be 90 years old and we all can't live forever.

So forget the politics and get to you and yourself.  Does anyone really think a political party while they are going to their state dinners gives a crap about you or how you die and lived? Ask Donald Trump how many have died during his presidency. Ask barrack Obama how many Americans have died during his presidency. Ask both if they know their names and what they died from. Life and Death and Death and Life and that is all we have to live with. But there are some instances that stand out like Benghazi and the Pulse Nightclub shooting.  Benghazi because I am American and The Pulse because I am the T in LGBT but to me Obama dropped the ball on both. Just my opinion. ???

Jenn, I can assure you there's a whole lot more money going into cancer research than there is into HIV/AIDS. I live and work right in the center of where that work is happening.

And sorry, I'll thank you to please not lecture me about what my political views ought to be (what you're clearly assuming is in fact not correct). Likewise please don't make assumptions about where I get my news, you know squat about me or my reading habits.

Sadie. I don't get so caught up in the politics like some. My whole point being in totality is that no one will live forever and some choices we make may lead to a quicker demise. ZSo if it is HIV, Cancer, a totally new strain of Influenza, Heart Attac, Stroke or any other embolism we should be able to die with no regrets and I think that is way more important than why people die. I mean I would like to say I can flip my middle finger to the world and say, "C'ya assholes!" But I have never really faced it with total certainty. :embarrassed: I have faced it with other variables in which I had choices but not when I did or could not have an effect. I can talk all the crap I want but if I went tomorrow for a pain and the doctor told me I had Cancer and only six months to live, I just really don't know. But I would like to think the way I am and the way I feel I would spend the last few months gloriously and just having a good time. But I really don't know because I have not faced that yet. But I do know there is 1-- percent chance of my death eventually. What from I don't know. It may just be from a bad choice like drinking and driving but that I do not do. It may be from me speeding. It maybe because a drunk driver hit me head on. Hell it may even be from HIV that eventually turned to AIDS or Heart disease.

The point that I am trying to make deep down is that death is not a political issue. I hate when young people die but older folks like myself hat have had a somewhat full life then I don't feel so bad about. One reason is because death is a total constant in life. Hell I am surprised I am still alive today. ??? So what is more important with HIV that is not important to other diseases? Malaria kills more people world wide than Heart Disease and AIDS combined and even cancer and all other diseases combined. But Malaria is not so common in the West so.... There are places where tuberculosis and even leprosy kills more people than HIV. How long has Magic Jonson lived with HIV? Just askin'... But I have no insurances so how much would I pay to stay alive? I really don't know. :embarrassed: I really don't think I would grasp at straws though. I would like to think that the money I may spend to stay alive I would rather spend to enjoy the last part of my life.

but one thing that is a total constant is that death does not play politics and this disease or that disease because when the Reaper comes then you don't have a choice. So why worry about it?

The one thing that really bothers me and I do send money too is childhood cancer programs. But I could have very easily died from a head on collision at such a speed, a plane crash, HIV that turned into AIDS, cancer or any other disease and Death is not a political deal or discriminate for this or that. It just happens regardless of whether you are OK with it or not.

HIV is a political disease because it used to be that only gays got it. Yes I remember when it surfaces with the whole anal sex thing. ::) but then women were getting it and then straight men and women were getting it and the Magic Johnson was infected. But the fact is that a person even with HIV can live a healthy life now maybe even to old age and then some. but there are things that will kill you quicker than HIV now.

I mean I am a girly woman and I still go out sometimes ten plus miles on horseback just to get away. II could be bitten by a Diamondback and am willing to accept that chance. I am willing to fly in which some people will find that terrifying. I may die in a crash. I am willing to accept that because 1 hour compared to10 hours driving? Then even driving there is a chance of me dying in a crash. Death will never wait until the next election and I myself have been a high risk. I was tested every month per where I worked and the state regulations. I rolled the dice and came up lucky. But one friend of mine did not. :'( But I made my decision and she did too. I find it heartening since I visited her often that she died with no regrets and never a "Why me instead of you?". She did nothing but leave this world and especially me better than when she entered it. My aunt was the same way because she could have taken Chemo to extend her life but chose not to spend her last days sick. She died from lung cancer and I visited her the day before she died and she smoked a cigarette. She smoked until she died. I would like to think that I would be the same way as these two but I really don't know because I have not faced it yet. ???

But what my point is that everyone is either going to die from disease, accident or old age and none of those belong to a political party. So when your number comes up you are not special because of politics, the way you lived or anything else. It is just time to go and or just fade away into non existence depending on what you believe.

So you can't blame death on Obama or Trump or Hillary or Bush, Bill Clinton, Ronald Reagan or anyone else or political party lines.

So in relation to the OP if I died from AIDS or was aborted before birth does anyone think Trump or Hillary would care? The only reason they would would be for votes to gain or stay in power. So most of the issues that we may find important to us, the politicians don't really care about other than how you vote. That is something we should be interested in and hold them accountable. I mentioned before that when Gay Marriage was such a big deal and got voted down in California, Prop 8, Obama and Hillary chimed in and then they did a 180 when the Supreme Court got involved and ruled in favor of Marriage Equality. both said that marriage was between one man and one woman. what about polygamists?  I mean they are people too and some religions allow polygamy. I mean seriously I would not being a wife in a harem. OMG sex one night a week or so and help with housework. :embarrassed: ???  >:-) Not to make light of religion but... Hey let me live with other women and accepted by them then polygamy seems pretty good sometimes.  Jesus I kind of went off the rails there. :embarrassed:

Regardless something will take us out of this world either by disease, sickness, accident or old age. We can't or won't live forever but all we can do is die with no regrets.  I could care less about politics regardless but I would really love to say that I could die with no regrets. I hope that kind of clarifies my stance on things. :embarrassed: ;)

I'm just quoting this because it seems as though everyone missed this post, and I think it's the most important post in this thread.
