Yes, it was always my favourite type of homework both in school and university because I liked reading various literature so much and then writing my own texts. Considering that I've never had any serious problems with writing them, especially in case of grammar, vocabulary and style. The hardest thing for me was only writing about topics which were totally boring for me, in such case I had a massive procrastination and many difficulties in the process :-\
In my opinion the most important things while writing any essay include good knowledge about your topic/argument, having at least several creative ideas for it, careful using of good and different informational resources, making a plan of your whole essay and writing its body structure according to the certain type of it https://www.hercampus.com/school/pitt/12-amazing-essay-writing-hacks, also explaining everything carefully and avoiding possible plagiarism (that's why it's necessary to keep track of all your resources). I write essays and speeches pretty regularly. Easy on topics I am enthusiastic about, harder on assigned topics where I have to find some angle to write about. The assigned topics come up at church pretty regularly, where the minister has a topic, and I have to write a few shorter pieces to touch on that topic somehow.
Once I have some angle to enter the topic with the essay is generally easy to construct and flesh out. Sometimes I find a new direction to take partway through the writing process, and I throw away part of the first draft and rewrite. It happens...
