Do you STP and use urinals?
« on: December 30, 2018, 03:23:30 pm »
I have recently transitioned to male and I'm 45. After decades of being identified as a bloke in the ladies; a major perk is that now I can use men's and urinals and none to date has challenged it. I have been reading and watching other FTM's testimonies and the thing I see or read all the time is that the guys don't use the urinals!

I'm puzzled by this, frankly I am!
Don't get me wrong here, if it isn't your thing or you aren't comfortable, heaven't got a STP with you or at all etc. that is fine, each their own.
What puzzles me is that I have found it hard to find those that share my narrative.

When I got my first STP which I ordered online in the same breath as coming out in full I immediately started experimenting with urinals.
I would hold it until I could use a public urinal rather than going where there were unisex toilets or at home etc.
I would take the dog for extra walks to be able to discretely fertilise a tree.
For me, it was and still is liberating. It takes care of a whole chunk of my dysphoria.

I haven't found a similar narrative from other guys, instead I have found all the narrative similar to the one in the link where guys either have an STP but don't use urinals or don't have an STP.

Talking to guys that were assigned male from birth they find STP at urinals etc to be a part of their manhood. It is the male privilege.
It has also been very centre-point in masculinity in my part of the world at least, (N Europe).

I also feel in the whole political debate going on in US with the unisex toilets and law against trans using their gendered toilets that I'm expected to prefer a unisex toilet, but I don't.

So tell me your stories guys, please!

I tend not to use the urinals because I seize up when someone is next to me and it feels really stupid to just be standing there and nothing comes out. If I know I'm gonna be alone though, I will. Or stand to pee in a stall.

Even having a penis, I always felt uncomfortable using a urinal especially when standing next to another guy.  I quit using urinals (and even standing) over 21 years ago.  I find it to be much more comfortable and relaxing to sit to pee.  The biggest problem is the frequent lack of stalls in many men's restrooms (and frequently limited privacy due to inadequate stall partitions).

I would use the women's restroom, where adequate stalls and privacy walls are provided, if it was acceptable.

I get a shy bladder especially if there are many. My bladder isn't used to performing in front of an audience. It helos to havea full bladder and repeated attempts desensitises it. Meaning that you will stop noticing or be as affected. Don’t worry about nothing coming out. They won't notice, and a lot of them will have their own difficulty with peeing. I know its easier said than done.

This is interesting and likely helpful for many ftm to read.
I have always been the opposite.
I find the whole process of sitting down so cumbersome. I also felt very uncomfortable in the ladies because I could be challenged at any moment and often was although not in any drastic way.
I don’t feel quite so scrutinised in the men's as I did in the ladies

What made you feel uncomfortable in the restrooms (female & male)?

What made you feel uncomfortable in the restrooms (female & male)?

I haven’t felt uncomfortable in the male’s at all!
I only feel uncomfortable in the ladies. As I explained, at any given time I could be challanged in the ladies because they saw me as a bloke.
So they would say something like: ”this is the ladies!” or they would turn around and leave. Occationally someone would just stop and stare at me untill I was done.
I have always been and looked masculine.

Since transitioning and starting to use men’s I have never had any such experience. Not so much as a second glance.

Women really like to chat in the toilets and they will start chatting with you when you are in your stall doing your business. They also congregate in the toilets to chat things over that they don’t want men to know or to comfort each other when they are upset.
They do their make-up there and can take over practically the whole counter for their stuff and don't move an inch even though you start to wash your hands among all the small purses with diffrent types of stuff.
Many will not want there to be any sound from your business. The younger once will even comment on it, if they are in a group which they often are.

Then there is the period waste which doesn't always find its way to the wastbin that is within an arms reach of them on the toilet and the smell can be horrible. Sometimes the smell is enhanced because of infections which can make it very strong.
For these reason as a bloke, I wouldn’t care for there only to be unisex bathrooms if the idea is that it is basically a ladies with the label swapped out for a unisex label, i.e. a row of locked stalls with joint sinks.

I'm in fact really relieved not to share toilets with women anymore.

I'm jumping in here after only reading the first post, so bear with me as I want to give my own thoughts on this matter.

I am waiting for the day I get good enough with my STP to feel confident enough to use it in public!

Right now, I have a $15 one that I've graduated from using in the shower to the toilet at home, but I still have too many backflow accidents  (I suspect with a too strong stream) to use in public.  I read that "if your stream is too strong, it can cause backflow and go over the lip of the STP," so once I learn to ease up, I hope to be okay with using it in public.

I am also looking forward to the day I can write my name in the snow, along with the rest of the guys!

I was born male, so unfortunately, I have the equipment to use the urinal. I just choose not to. I'd rather sit when using the restroom. However if I'm in a public restroom I won't sit on those toilets unless it's an absolute emergency. But I also won't use the urinal either. I'll stand in the stall and go. I have a super shy bladder and I don't care if I'm getting ready to bust, I can't go if there are people standing around me.

Which reminds me of a funny story. When I went into the Air Force I, of course, had to take a physical. During said physical I had to give a urine sample and some unlucky medic had to watch the urine leave my body. I couldn't go, so they started filling me with as much water as I could drink. It took me about 4 hours before I could give my sample. Even though my back teeth had been floating for the previous 4 hours I just couldn't go. LOL

I'm lazy, i'm also a nervous pee-er and always have been so yeah, I always sit and always will regardless. Even if I had a fully functioning dick i'd sit because you can just like.. chill, relax, zone out, muck about on your phone lol. It's like a few moments to just sorta go "ahhh rest" hahaha.
But also as a person who struggles to urinate if there's a queue of people waiting or if the door doesn't fully lock or if it's an unusual environment (ahh autism, fun) I don't think I could really use a urinal without getting massively paranoid and pysching myself out anyway.
Mostly "i'm gonna pee down my leg, 'm gonna pee down my leg, i'm totally gonna pee down my leg" because I KNOW me, I would! hah

I can't hover pee either, never have been able to. If I can't actually sit down, I am not going to be able to urinate. it's SO ANNOYING. So yeah, those gross public restrooms it's either "mmm I don't need to go that bad" or it's "make a new seat out of toiletpaper, layers and layers of toiletpaper"

My bladder is a jerk.

I mean it is actually really frustrating. I once had to hold on for SIX HOURS becuase I couldn't pee behind a bush (I tried so hard!) or using the freaky wierd squat toilets (because I can't squat pee! I focus too much on not falling over and can't relax enough!) and that was the only option so I was in so much pain by the time we got somewhere with a normal loo I could use. Eugh.

I mean it'd be awesome if I could just pee on command but alas, my body won't do that.

Stood and used urinals for years. However, frequently got the last spurt in my pants after tucking it back in.  It was also uncomfortable standing next to another person at the urinal.

Finally decided to use the stall and sit.  Took a little longer but it was easier to completely empty my bladder and much more comfortable and pleasant.  Didn't have to worry about wet spots on my trousers from getting the last spurt after tucking it back in. Have now sat full time for over 22 years and am paranoid of any thought of standing.

I don't have a problem with passing, or using the men's washroom, but at this point I'm still more comfortable using the stalls for a variety of reasons. One being nerves, and if someone's going to "out me", or if I "leak" down the sides or back. I do have a really great STP, but I think the next thing for me is getting a better adhesive, since then I'll know for sure where it is and where it's suppose to be.

Isn't it rather uncomfortable having it there all the time?

It depends, sometimes you just have to readjust.

Standing to pee is cool  ;D I tried to do it when I was a kid and learnt to do it using fingers in the shower. I've never had an STP though.

Um, it's interesting to read that women don't like any sound from peeing in the toilet at all. It would never cross my mind.

I did feel uncomfortable in the women's toilets when I used them, but mostly because they looked at me weird even though I didn't pass. I also felt like I was being observed, they looked at me when I left the cabin, looked at my feet when I was doing my business, stared at me when I washed my hands, it made me feel uneasy. Male toilets might be a bit more dirty, but at least nobody spies on you.
