Jobs For An English Degree
« on: January 09, 2019, 10:18:06 am »
I wonder what jobs hire someone with an associate's degree in English.  I would like to get one.  Also I might want to be a writer.
Wait'll they get a load of me!

Go to Japan or China and teach English.  They usually need teachers.

Chrissy
Be a good example of good behavior.  Always be kinder than needed.  Be tender to others.  You are as beautiful as the thoughts you think and the words that your speak.   Always stay cheerful, be polite, kind, and understanding.  Knowledge and action shown without love is not impressive.  If you look for the good in people you will find it. Healthy relationships are so important to good living.  Serve others.

Good living, joy, unity, love, and happiness can come from following these practices: Never let selfishness or conceit motivate you.  Regard others as more important than yourself.  Do not limit attention to only your interests, but include the interests of others

It is not usually about how fast you transition, it is about how well you transition.

You could learn.  Most students in many schools can speak English.  You would help them get more proficient with speaking, reading, and writing.  If you learn a foreign language, you can return to the mainland as an interpreter for that language.

All the technical writers at work had an English language degree.  The developers/designer gave them the information on the details, and they converted it into an understandable version of language!
This would go a long way down your desire to be a writer!

Check with larger technology/scientific companies in your area, they may need technical writers!

Sorry for the necro-bump, but I wanted to add onto the English teaching comment-- you should look into VIPkid, it's a teach-from-home company where you teach Chinese kids English via webcam. I considered it, but I'm not animated enough for that kind of gig, lol.

Unfortunately English teaching in SE Asia/Japan is not particularly well paid unless you get a government position with it. But if you want experience and to be abroad it's an easy segue into it with an English Degree in certain countries, particularly China, S Korea and Japan.

Other jobs you can get with this degree are things like Copywriter, Proof reader, Private English Teacher, Administration, Web Content creator/manager, Writer. School/university teaching often requires additional qualifications I believe.

Hello,

just a small comment: if you go to the central or eastern Europe, you will get more money, and a lifestyle similar to the american one, with all the things you are used to, and you will be a well higher-middle class person (but check for the actual situation)
I am from Czech Republic, should you be here, let me know :)
