Ashley - I LOVE Sonic Youth.

My latest mania is Gojira -- they're a French metal band that has been around for quite a while, but I just got turned onto them recently.  They're fantastic, if you're into that kind of stuff (it's an acquired taste  ;D).  Don't judge me!

Tom Petty's "Learning to Fly" has been a long time favorite of mine and it's just hitting different lately.  It came on in the car on XM the other day and the lyrics had a very different meaning to me.

Yeah, I'm slightly obsessed. So sue me. It's so weird seeing the band without Marko, though. He was as integral as Floor. Troy just doesn't fill that gap, IMO.

It's Jerry's Birthday.. so JGB of course!

Jerry Garcia Band.. Mission in the Rain. One of my favorite songs.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Quick beats in an icy heart
   Catch-colt draws a coffin cart
There he goes now, here she starts:
   Hear her cry
Flight of the seabirds, scattered like lost words
Wheel to the storm and fly

Been spinning Taylor Swift's Folklore and Evermore albums on wax a lot lately.  Her style is so much more mature and sound ethereal compared to her teen pop albums (which are kind of fun in their own way).  I think she's really grown up and finally found her authentic style with these albums.  Kind of corny, but I see her journey to her authentic self as having some similarities to my own journey.  From faking it as a country start (I still like her country music, but tbh, it's fake), to trying to settle into pop, to growing up to a real folk/indie sound.  Really dig it.

Separately, been on a huge Peter Green kick lately.  I was never a Fleetwood Mac fan and didn't know anything about him really.  I ordered a box of curated vinyls based on a survey of what I like, and ended up getting his Little Dreamer album in the box and I can't stop playing it.  Now I'm going back and listening to all the early Fleetwood stuff with him as the front man.  Nothing against Stevie Nicks, but Peter Greene is Fleetwood.  He's a monster on the guitar, Claptonesque really, and the pain of his own dealings with severe mental health struggles really comes thru on his later albums like LD.  Like Clapton, his soul comes thru the guitar strings.

I only know a couple of of PG's tunes from the radio which are amazing.  I'm a huge FM fan from the L&S days which rep them the best for me.

I guess my age is showing but I've been listening to a lot of Bubblegum mixes on Spotify. Something about :Sugar Sugar" and "Yummy Yummy Yummy I Got Love in My Tummy" makes me get up and dance in my living room. I find it "Happy" music from a simpler and happy time. LOL
