Harry Potter world and transition
« on: March 20, 2019, 12:26:14 am »
I was watching Harry Potter and if you where a kid and that world
Was real would you find a way too permanently change genders..
I know they have a potion in it where they can turn into someone else.
But it’s only temporary.

Would they have something more permanent.
Imagine how much easier transition would be
If you could just drink a potion or say some magic words
And poof your you. Alll I can say is being trans at hogworks must be easy

lol It's called pollyjuice potion and word is tastes horrible!

Have you seen Altered Carbon? I'd much prefer living forever once your memories and consciousness are decanted into a disk-shaped device called a cortical stack one can pick any physical human or synthetic body "sleeve" you want!

Then again they'd be no such thing as "trans" with shifting body congruency being commonplace!

Sounds kinda vampirish though be careful what you wish for, "magical" would definitely be better, 'cause modern tech is bordering on scary enough already!
"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

"Genitalia Correctus!"

I'd be happy to be in that duel!  ;)

J.K. already said that Dumbledore and Grindlewald were lovers.

***SPOILERS in this article!***

Don't read this if you haven't seen 'The Crimes of Grindlewald!'

I just recently read the first Harry Potter book and I don't understand why I haven't read it before. On the other hand, I'm glad that I have many more exciting books ahead of me about this amazing boy that JK Rowling gave us.

Thank you for your warm welcome, Rakel!   ^-^
If we talk about Harry Potter, it was my mistake that I first watched the movie and then decided to read the books. I would like to start with books, it would be more interesting. And now when I read books, I imagine all the characters are exactly like in the movie, and you? As for magic, it would be great to have a few jars of potion to transform into magical characters and get the ability to fly or teleport, I always thought about this as a child. But still you can get a little magic and find out <link removed>what is your Harry Potter house, with the help of this Pottermore house quiz.

Would there be a way to magically transition in the Harry Potter world... it really depends on how you imagine it. If it's the world as written, or as it might be imagined by J K Rowling, then I would think not. She's kind of a bigot toward trans people.

If it's the world as it would likely exist if it were disconnected from JK's mind and allowed to become more "realistic," then absolutely! Transness would be just as real and there would be just as much a need for trans people to transition as in this world. If it didn't exist, a cabal of trans witches and wizards (and what's the term for NB spellcasters? Needless gendering there) would put research and experimentation into spell creation until it did exist.

I've never read the books or seen the movies (mostly cuz I wasn't allowed to growing up),
but I know there are other universes where your idea would be far more likely. For example in The Elder Scrolls Online video game they added a quest in the Summerset DLC where you try to find this womans brother because he ran off to this elite artistic school but she wants him to use his great magic gifts for "better" things. The catch is in this school, everyone hides their identity so as to only showcase their talents without the person interfering.
Well as you're going through the leader of this school kinda tells you to bugger off but she plays games with you seeing if you can find who the brother is.
Well spoilers ahead:
In the the leader is crying that she was so mean to this sister because as she reveals she was the brother all along but changed her gender with her powerful magic in this school where she felt happier. If you talk to her about this after you finish the story she'll explain that several people have used magic to change their gender, so it is a thing people can do.
If I lived in such a universe I sure as heck would be studying magic for such powers.
I hereby sign this message to the understanding that it is what I said. You, the viewer, thus abide to the binding of this message to have been abided.
