Preamble: Video call to my parents, shoulder length hair in up-do with butterfly clip. No makeup.

ME: Hi Dad, how you doing?

(Random chatter)

DAD: You know, with your hair up like that you really look like your mother.

ME: Uh? You don't say! Must be the light.

(Thinks? Is this the right time to come out? Uhhh, no.)

MUM: Yeah, since you lost weight you do look a lot more like me.

(Did I just male fail with my own parents ??)

@Jenny_Oh
Dear Jenny:
Yes indeed, you did "male fale" with your own parents.
So, did you officially come out with them? ???

Very exciting to read about your video call.
Please keep us all updated.

Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Danielle, but no. Still dealing with the repercussions of my wife outing me which have not been positive. So out to 4 people, my wife, my ex-girlfriend (who is also happens to be a therapist), our current couples therapist and my own gender therapist. (So much therapy!) I don't think the "You look like your mother" thing was a hint or question, but who knows, parents are more astute than we think. All in good time, because there's no stopping this train.

This piqued my interest because many people have told me I looked like my mother, especially when I was young. Obviously I never had a feminine hairstyle (the only way I get one now is to wear a wig, and that's the only possible way for me with the level of male-pattern baldness I have left).

What is meant by "male fail"? Is it a failure to appear male?

I am asking this just because it fits into my eternal quest for self-knowledge. (Well, eventually the quest will come to an end, so it's not really eternal!)

Thanks, E

Jenny, interesting observation.  Parents can be easy to underestimate (I know I do it) but, afterall, they have known us all our lives.

How did all this feel to you?  One way to look at might be as a vote of confidence: "you look like a woman!"

Well, in the vein of looking like one's mother...

My spouse said to me, "At least you're not as ugly as your mother..."

I think it was supposed to be a complement...  ;D

I first came out to my best friend by showing her a picture of myself dressed. She asked if I wanted honesty, which I did. She said "That wig makes you look like your mother"...I never wore it again.

Since coming out to my mother she like to talk about women's clothes with me.

mom: "You know, I have this skirt that I don't wear anymore..."

me: "No, mom. No."

Yesterday I went to a store early and also took a walk.  That was nice on both counts.
That does not sound like much I know but in these unusual times, well, it was not typical.

Sported a nice layered look with a round bottom lighter top below and slightly shorter darker top over that, with jeans and sneakers.  Yes, a mask, and gloves too for the shopping part, just a mask for the walk.

I still exercised later in the day.  I need to trim off about seven pounds.

Have a great day everyone!

Hugs.

Chrissy

I finally installed a bidet attachment to my toilet!

These are uncommon in the UK. I was reading that it is a better way to clean oneself after doing one's business than using toilet paper. I have had occasional haemorrhoid problems and it's supposedly very beneficial for that.

I used it for the first time, and I felt wonderfully clean afterwards!

About £30 well spent.

In case anyone cares, I had it delivered. I didn't go out to pick it up. - E

I am thankful for all the blessings given to me and all the difficulties handed to me as I am confident that this all is helping me grow and be better off over time.  Plus I am more able to be of better service to many, even those who do not take ownership of their responsibilities and those who make snarky remarks.

If I can somehow help most everyone that comes to me or interacts with me to feel a bit better, listened to, and treated with kindness and respect, that should lift them up that day.  That remains my goal.

Have a delightful day ahead everyone. :)

Chrissy

My friend referred to me as my mom's son and immediately corrected it to daughter himself. He's still getting used to using proper pronouns etc so it's nice to see he's thinking about it and actively correcting himself without me intervening.

After spending some time at home from the virus and a furlough, I decided "why am I bothering still working this job?" so I decided to find something else to occupy my time and took a little job at a printer supply store as their new tech.   I bet they were surprised when someone like me applied.  33 years experience, engineer level.  Way more than they need.  I took a $12 an hour drop, but it's not like I need it much anymore.  I just use the money to cover utilities and my going out money anyway.  Haven't started yet, but I think being in a small business as compared to the corporate world is going to do wonders.

So tossed a 20 year career for a small shop.  Big change, but it sure made me smile.

I was wearing a longer wig yesterday than I usually do when going to Lidl's. When I got to the cashier, she told me it suits me much better than the shorter wig that I usually wear when I go there. She said it makes me look younger!

I said I took it as a compliment, which I did. She said she was worried that she might have been offending me. I told her I don't get offended by people saying things like that!

So it made me feel really good!
