Voice Transitioning - Great Advice

(1/5) > >>

judithlynn:
Hi Girls;
I just listened to a great You Tube session by Paula Nolan being interviewed by Suddenly Samantha on the TransIRL . Well worth watching this  session about  practicing  and finding your female voice. Its a great resource:

Another great Video on transIRL is the talk by three Significant Others talking about how their partners transitioned and how they supported then through that process.

Best JudithLynn

I just watched the first video, it was very helpful, thank you for posting it!

Thank you, Judithlynn, I really liked this video. It made me feel like I am not the only one going through these stages of doubt.

I don't have most of the problems of a low voice, because my natural voice has a rather high pitch.  I just had to de-learn the male style of speaking.  I am only hanging out with females, and it a little easier this way t pick up their style of speaking.
However, I have an unusual pitfall. Whenever I speak into the telephone, I do this with a male kind of voice, I am always gendered Mr or Sir when on the phone.  I can talk the entire day like a woman, no problems, and I pick that stupid phone up and switch to a guys voice.  I must have a phone related brain defect or something like this! >:(

I have similar issues but not just with phones. I can be pretty good when practicing home alone but when I really need to use my "new" voice I just can't seem use it. Last time that happened, it was literally 10 minutes after practicing at home and my voice wasn't tired, I was just mentally blocked from using it face to face with real people.
