"I do not like LGB movies Sam'antha" I am. I do not like them at all"

Over at medium.com Phaylen Fairchild, Julia Serano and others are speaking out about activism and rethinking our association with increasingly hostile gay communities in general:

Quote
Visibility is an often-stated goal of Pride celebrations, and LGBTQ+ activism more generally . . While visibility has played a vital role in enabling contemporary LGBTQ+ people to find one another and share resources, we should reject the premise that it automatically fosters acceptance . .

Sometimes being more visible simply makes you an easier target for discrimination. And the veneer of visibility may lull those who don’t personally face that discrimination into a false sense of progress.

Not living "in the big cities" as most of us probably don't(?) many are posting informative articles on the backlash that many trans people are experiencing at the hands of our alleged "allied gay sisters and brothers". While refreshingly quite "civil" the comment sections are also telling and worth a good read as well!

My fav "T" (for trans) movie has always been "Orlando" but more recent "Girl" ranks right up there as well as I think that movie really hit home with many . . . Sadly recently deceased "fleurgirl" talks about her exactly similar real-life experience here and, also like Chantal, I have always found men in general, not just "gay" (which I do not grasp in the least btw), to be much more "accepting" overall while not really understanding "lesbian feminism" at all.

"But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend be two people!
"Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

I've watched "Pose" on netflix. It's a series not a movie. Went through alot of emotions watching it. 2-thumbs up for me.
