Losing weight on mtf hormone replacement
« on: July 18, 2019, 08:03:16 am »
Hi everyone. I have been gaining weight since I started on hrt and over the years I have developed  alot of weight on my tummy and pubic mound. Thanks to a recent dr guided change in my hormone regiment, my butt (which used to be very nonexistent) is starting to fill out and my hips too. The thing is that my tummy fat is still very prominent. My question is that, if I lost weight, would my oestrogen help control the areas where I lose weight or should I wait longer to see if the tummy fat transfers to other areas?

That's a question for your doctor!

Far as I know, fat does not move from one place to another in the body. On  MTF HRT, new fat generally goes to butt, hips and breasts first though.

With that in mind I decided to loose my belly fat first. That part is mostly accomplished, down 50 pounds since last July. I'm planning on going a tad lower yet then trying to gain about 10 pounds back to put some on my non existent butt.

Welcome to Susan't Place. If you lose weight, you will probably lose it all over but you might lose more from one place that the other. I would suggest if your above you healthy weight, you start working on losing it now. It can take months to year to lose the excess weight so the sooner you start the better. If your considering surgery, many surgeons have a maximum BMi limit so excess weight could delay your surgery.

You are correct, fat does not take any tours through your body.  It is thought that estrogen will deposit fat first into the more female areas of the body.
I hope that estrogen knows about this.  I am now pretty much beer belly free, and hope that estrogen will decide I should not have a beer belly again, once I gain a little weight
But there are enough women around, who sport some kind of a beer belly!

That's my theory and plan. I want to gain back about 10 pounds in hope that the estrogen will place it on my butt and boobs.  Most cis ladies that have some belly fat also have some fat in the other spots.

I lost 40 lbs over two years.  My belly got flat. And my boobs shrank.  Then I tried to put weight back on and it went back to belly, thighs and but.  BUT the good news is my waist continued to shrink.  Fat cells that are already there in the belly will inflate.  They never go away.  They deflate and inflate.

So now that I have my belly flat again.  Im back to a dancers body.  I’m going to try cool sculpting to actually remove the fat cells then try to put some weight back on again.

Once I got over 40 it seemed like everything went below the waste including the belly.  Now that I’m even older I don’t think there is no chance that ever stopping.  It’s the same with cis women also.  Part of aging.  I do enjoy working out though.  It was an unexpected benefit of the process losing weight.
I've taken what others have offered, so now I'm giving back.

I've heard that about fat cells not going away and reinflating so I'm aware that I may get some belly back when I try to gain.
Its partly why I'm trying to overshoot my final maintenance weight. Hopefully I'll get some growth in the butt and boob areas along with any returning belly. If not,  I'm still where I want to be weight wise.

Yes,  fat cells that were ever created in your body (even those during childhood) and are emptied out, are there in happy standbyto fill up again.  Our only hope is that estrogen is clever enough, to send the initial new bacon, to our face, boobs, and butt.  And that we afe alert enough to realise when the maximum fat is there, and know when to stopp eating more to avoid the darn belly fat.
