Cyberpunk 2077 offering extremely inclusive character creation.
« on: September 02, 2019, 01:39:28 pm »
I thought it prudent to post this here. One of the biggest games of the current generation, Cyberpunk 2077, recently changed its character creation to allow players to create any kind of player character they like.

Here's a link to an article explaining why they did what they did.

It hasn't gone down well. Because... well... gamerz are gamerz, and the slightest little thing will make them want to break their mom's crockery and come out of the basement to the bright light of day, just to rage about stuff that doesn't apply to them. But yeah... I thought it was worth mentioning. If you're looking for a game where... to use their term... "transhumanism" is a big thing in both the lore and the gameplay, then you could do much worse. :) I already have my pre-order in. ;D

All of this! I'm so excited for this one! CD Projekt Red seem to have a good outlook on game development. And this whole transhumanism thing is great! Kind of like in the sims you can choose male/female then whether you wear m/f clothes and whether you have m/f reproductive

I'd never heard of that game before so I went to YouTube to check it out. It looks like a lot of fun...however it's a first-person shooter and those give me motion sickness. So sadly I won't be able to play it. I'm really glad that it's all-inclusive though!!

Give the Witcher 3 a shot. Same devs and the most polished of the series. 3rd person as well ;)

I hate FPS for the most part for the same reason.

Luckily I managed to bag a collectors edition, I've been waiting since like 2012 for the game.

I hate FPS for the most part for the same reason.

It's a first person shooter in the same way Fallout 3 and 4 are First Person Shooters. It's primarily based on a tabletop RPG. I'm not sure it will be as "twitchy" as a game like Call of Duty, so you might be okay.

Anyone manage to get a CP console?  They look fab if you're into the game.

Didn't even know they were doing them. I did see the Cyberpunk 2077 themed RTX GPUs, though. Although you can't buy those.

So many were disappointed and angry at MS because they were shadow-dropped at $299 and disappeared so quickly.  The next wave will prob come in at $399 they're guessing.  It will be the last before the next gen so a double reason to own.

Anyone plan on playing this on PC?  I have a current gen XBox, but been spoiled by moving back to the PC more recently.  Not sure I want to return to the 30 or even 60 FPS world.

Thanks for the thread, I live in a cave these days on new games (Destiny addict/victim), so I wouldn't have remembered this game without it. I had somehow forgotten about it long after the Keanu Reeves promotional bit. THAT stirred me from my slumber at one point, but maybe for all the "wrong?" reasons.

I have it pre-ordered for PC. I don't play on consoles anymore. Ever since I got VR... PC is the only platform I use. (I expect this game to be "adapted" for VR pretty quickly, through VorpX or something like that.)

I'll probably pre-order as well.  I got back into PCs a few years back for VR also.  HTC Vive, been looking for a more compelling reason to use it.  I'd prefer a newer one now though that can ditch some of the head wires, and hand controllers with thumbsticks to handle movement.

I'm not really a fan of the game but damn they did a great job on that console.  A few PC gamers here, ok.

So there's a lot of buzz with this game as far as leftwing transgender folks stating that it is transphobic and far-right folks laughing at the notion of this.  Trust me, they are having a field day and I'm a bit confused myself what the "big dill" is over this game and transphobia claims?

I don't play the game but I popped in to this forum again to get an idea of how y'all feel about this but it seems Susan's doesn't have a large base of gamers.

Oh, here's 1 article I was reading and going by:  Google search for "How Cyberpunk 2077 Perpetuates Transphobia"

Thoughts?  Opinions?  Complaints?

For me, the game gets a bit boring after time, secondly, the city seems too happy for cyberpunk, do you remember cyberpunk games in the 90s? There was a real cyber-vibe back then.

I don't care what they say. This game is cyberpunk enough for my tastes ♡

Just bores me but looks great of course.  There are still no system sellers currently, I really dislike modern gaming.  And no, there doesn't seem many gaming fans here.
