@zbrooks cc:
@NatalieRene Please be careful with considering a Lap Band.... I am quite aware that plateaus in a weight loss endeavor can be very frustrating. It most likely feels that you could starve yourself and still not lose weight. Persistence, tenacity and fierce determination is needed to continue on with your diet plan, eating balanced portion controlled meals, watching your calorie intake, staying away from "fad" diet plans... and continue with reasonable exercise.
Lap Bands for many are a last resort and may work but unless eating habits are addressed, there can be negative consequences of having a lap band... be sure that you discuss all of these possible negative issues with your doctor.
Years ago I had a good friend I went to college with that was grossly overweight and he got a lap band but continued with his excessive eating habits to the extreme. He ended up having an issue with herniating his esophagus ... the lap band kept the excess food from entering his stomach and he had to have surgery to repair his lower esophagus and to remove the lap band.
In my personal experience, HRT has not made keeping my weight under control an issue.... like my endo once told me it is what we put in our mouth that makes weight loss an issue.
Regarding your weight loss, I am wishing you well, you can read several members threads here that have successfully reduced their weight from the 200+ pound range down into the 160 to 170 pound range with a combination of diet and exercise. Danielle Hey everyone,
I am currently 210lbs and I had my mtf srs back in May. This whole being fat thing isn’t working out.
Has anyone had the lap band done and still on hormones? Or will the hormones make you gain it all back? I’ve been doing low carb which is not hard but I’m stuck and cannot lose anymore. I’m afraid if I just get lipo then it will just come back.
Any thoughts. Xoxo
