unacceptable waiting times

I think waiting times for specialists are there all over the place.  It took me over 6 months to get into a special transgender endo, and now, just for seeing a voice pathologist I have to wait over a month!

Hi Linde,                      21 October 2019

A lot of the wait times in the US result from not picking the right doctors. I had one endo take my referral to another Dr. in the practice and made me wait 3 months to see him when I wasn't even referred to him.

I looked around and found an endo that saw me four days after I called. Took me 5 weeks and one day from the time of my first counselor meeting and my surgery (orchi). I'm not one to take NO lightly.

Take care my friend.

Best Always, Love

Christine

Hello Christine, I think it depends on where you live.  I live in the waiting room to heaven, which means, most physicians are specialising in geriatric problems.  There are not too many old folks who want to become a different than their ASAB gender.  As a result of it, I can see a million and a half endos who specialize in diabetes, kidney problems, and similar medical problems.  However in this population center here where I live, with more than 1 1/2 million people, there are only two endos who do trans and fertility stuff (trans is a sideline for them), and that is the problem with the wait time for endos (they are so overrun, they don't even take insurance at all, they don't need to take it!).  There is only one voice pathologist in the entire area (it is a 45 miles drive one way), who accepts my health insurance, but there are not many of them around anyway.  It is the same as with the endos, old folks don't care anymore, if they have a beautiful voice or not, and not many pathologists decide to practice here.
All services for old people are great here, better than I experienced anywhere, but that does not help me in my situation.  But I don't feel like moving.  That is the reason why I go up to Minnesota to the Mayo Clinic for any major stuff.
