Just checked:

Apparently the Youtube "Enya - Who can say" censors MISSED this one . . .

I've had my PPL since the early 80s.  Owned a C150, PA28, BE77 and my last one, which I owned for 14 years, a Beech C23 aerobatic Sundowner.  Sold it two years ago, it was getting to be too much on a retirement income, and I have some health issues that made renewing my medical still possible, but too many hoops to jump through so I let it lapse.  Found other things to be just as passionate about.

Been flying since late 1980's both full scale and RC.
Currently own an A-36 Bonanza:

7 FT wing span, cruise around 70 knots although I love to fly slower and admire my ship!
RC is MUCH cheaper and I can own several airplanes at once!

I got my license about 10 years ago, I’m working at getting back into it. If you haven’t looked already do understand that if you’re in the us and you’ve started a medical transition you’ll need to get a special issuance on your medical. Yay de jure discrimination .

It’s centered around any possible psychiatric connections to gender dysphoria. It’s not too horrible, and in fact uses a much simplified form that was just updated on 9/25/2019. It’s all laid out here: https://www.faa.gov/about/office_org/headquarters_offices/avs/offices/aam/ame/guide/app_process/exam_tech/item48/amd/gd/.

If you started transitioning more than 5 years ago, the form stays with your DME or your personal physician if you use BasicMed. Less than 5 years it has to be sent to OK City.

If you’re on Facebook I also recommend following Jessica Taylor. She was instrumental in simplifying the rules for us all.

Dang girl, I knew we were sisters, but this is getting scary.   Started HRT same time, same age, I flew a bit when younger but quit when I realized it would not pay near what my current occupation did.  I passed my written pilots license test but decided not to pay for the rest of the flight time.  I had 12 hours at the time.  I fly RC as a hobby now, planes, drones, and I have a Stampede 4x4 truck that really gives my dogs a workout trying to catch it.   I was Air Force for 12 years, I guess it is just in the blood.

Yes, this is really weird!! We seem to be living parallel lives!!...Hope everything is going well for you my dear! Speaking of flying, I just got home from a weekend trip to Phoenix. Had a blast, went to a nightclub and danced my tail off. Of course I had to look like a nightclub girl, that was so fun!

Got my PPL when I was 17, but quit flying (planes and sailplanes) when I was 22 to focus on my career. Didn't return until five years ago when I retired. So glad to be back. Now part owner of a C150, I've yet to fly as Laura but I'm hoping that is in the future.

I'm going to be cheeky and just throw this out there, but I'm looking for something to do that isn't work related, I'm a cycle mechanic, working for myself and part time at a shop, I also ride the bl***y things all the time when I'm not working on them, so in an effort to do something else a few years ago I bought a 60" sas wildthing rc slope soarer built it up and did a bit of research and chucked it off a mountain with the help of some men who were sort of but not really a club, anyway I was pretty useless and didn't want to progress to some of the more exciting slopes.

The point I'm meandering slowly towards is, would anyone be willing or know of someone who is very very patient and teach Mills how to fly? I live in South Wales but would be willing to travel an hour or so each way to learn and I'd obviously pay for your time and patience or I'd be happy to fix/service your bike of choice for your trouble.

While waiting for a suitable instructor there are some pretty decent quality computer based RC simulators available relatively cheap. It's a great way to learn at your own pace without crashing your prize bird! I learned to fly RC many, many moons ago via this method!

Hi Sophia

Thanks for the reply, I do that though the trouble is after a while it just becomes a computer game, even if you set wind weather etc to the highest settings you eventually learn where to place the plane and it doesn't give any form of "feedback", another thing about my need for an hobby is to get away from work and get outside without a bike, if I'm at home on a pc the phone rings or I get an e-mail I'm back in work, the thing is I don't really mind but my wife thinks my obsession is unhealthy she's probably right.

Thanks

Mills

I've always been interested in aircraft, especially fighter jets and bombers, but I discovered I was aerophobic as well. I have a simultaneous desire to get into aircraft and to get as far away from them as possible.
