I am having a nice wintertime dinner meal
for a COLD night.... minus -13 deg (f) below ZERO.

Homemade Beef Barley soup and wheat toast.
For dessert a few chocolate chip cookies.

then I will sit in my comfy chair in front of my fireplace and read a book
that I have been working on.

Devlyn and I had Fajitasagne - a lasagne of chicken, peppers, onions, taco beans, seasoning and salsa, layered up with flour tortillas and cheese.

After church Dinner/Lunch at my tooth-fairy's home.

Pot-roast with lots of tender beef and lots of veggies.
I brought along a lemon pound cake with cream cheese frosting that I made last night.

Then, as usual on a cold day, we sat in front of the fireplace and warmed up.

Dear Megan:
Sounds good to me, I love anything with puff pastry.

Who does most of the cooking and baking at your home?
Devlyn? You? or do you share the responsibility and
capitalize on each of your special creations.

While my tooth-fairy and I have our own separate homes we
share a lot of meals together. We are both good cooks
although I do more of the baking of cookies, cakes and other
similar treats. My tooth-fairy is a great cook and will fix
great tasting full blown meals. She came from a large family
and was responsible for fixing many of the family dinners when
she was growing up and living at home.

Dear Sarah:
I love sandwiches made on Bagels.... especially onion Bagels for what you had.

Dinner tonight will be "take out" from my next door coffee shop.

Many of us "locals" are trying very hard to support our local restaurants and small businesses.
Their Fish and Chips is the best that I have ever had... along with a side cole slaw.
Substituting a side salad for the Fries.

I am going to have many meals that feature Mandarin oranges.
They are in season and are from California.

It is hard to eat just one or two. I bought a few big bags of them, as they were priced under a dollar a pound.
These must weigh about 1/4-1/3 pound each. They are so easy to peel. I have NOT found a dry orange yet, it is disappointing when you buy a bag of oranges and most are dry and tasteless.

It is interesting that occasionally I will find one that at appears to be of a different variety, although most are the typical Mandarin. I like fresh Mandarins more than the canned Mandarins. I think the smaller ones around 2 1/2 inches in diameter run about 40 calories each, so that is very reasonable.

If you can find really big Mandarins, try them, as they are great. They can cost significantly more than the smaller ones though. Sometimes they are called Sumo Mandarins.

Dear Chrissy:
I agree with you regarding the great taste of the Mandarin Oranges. I like to snack on them before or after lunchtime and as a fruit snack when watching a movie.
I like the fresh ones of course, but I do utilize the canned Mandarin Oranges in my variety of Jello salads....

I love mandarin oranges - definitely one of the nice parts of winter. Satsumas are my favorite. Expensive but totally worth it. I thought maybe satsumas and sumos were the same, but it turns out they’re pretty different. Sumos are actually a hybrid mandarin / tangerine, which I hadn’t realized:

Well my spicy pork chops turned out great, its a Chinese influenced Indian recipe. Chops marinade it Indian spices then simmered in soy sauce mixture. Had mash spuds and steamed veg with it.
