Unique Opportunity for Crossdressing - COVID
« on: April 09, 2020, 05:30:08 pm »
I was thinking yesterday while out riding my bike that for all of the crossdressers amongst us (disclosure: I was an intense crossdresser before I started to transition 5 years ago) there is an unique opportunity for crossdressers right now owing to the coronavirus.  Since everybody is going around wearing masks you have the opportunity to go out and try crossdressing in public and nobody will know about it.  You will just look like another woman with a mask.  This gives you an opportunity to try a trial run as it were and get an idea of how you would feel crossdressing in the outside world and going around freely dressed as a woman if you are at a stage where you might like to explore that sort of thing.

Just a reminder in case any of you crossdressers have not considered this.

@Janes Groove
Dear Jane:
YES INDEED, during lockdown and wearing a mask is a a perfect  opportunity to go out in public dresses as a female...  At the appropriate time you can elect to forget the mask and progress with your coming-out plans.

I will be looking for your updates as you feel so inclined to share with us.
HUGS and best wishes,
Danielle

I'm not suggesting anyone violate social distancing  guidelines or stay at home orders.  But, hey.  Everyone has to at least get groceries, right?

Yeah, and nobody can get within 6 feet of you!

Wearing a mask, actually a great idea. Thanks Jane!

I am not crossdresser, I am trans but it's true that sometimes I have complexes that people do not see but I do. And wearing a mask going to the supermarket and buying tobacco and the bank, those complexes are not there. As I say, there are things that people do not usually perceive equally but for me are important issues and the mask is a form of protection to those fears. Although of course, I am going to buy with tracksuit and disheveled, so it's contradictory but I understand this post although my situation is totally different

There are some cultural differences regarding wearing masks between East Asia and other regions around the world. Here in S. Korea, we have suffered from air pollution caused by microdust, especially after the industrialization of China. Also East Asians tend to be tanned easily from the UV of the sun.  Wearing masks has been a norm here, and nobody thinks it is strange, even before the CV.

I wear two types of masks. One is for protection from the UV of the sun while exercising outdoors, and the other is from air pollution, especially in winter and spring. I keep a bunch of disposable masks at home.

UV mask

Dusk mask

Yes. I think wearing masks makes me look younger!

Possibly this pandemic will get North Americans to regard wearing masks as more normal in the future? For myself after my many visits to East Asia and seeing so many people wearing masks, I was already accustomed to seeing masks and it was an easy adjustment here.

If the masks had a mtf voice transformation device that would be even better!

Be safe.    :)

Healthy relationships are so important to good living.

Good living, joy, unity, love, and happiness can come from following these practices: Never let selfishness or conceit motivate you.  Regard others as more important than yourself.  Do not limit attention to only your interests, but include the interests of others

One could wear a moldy hockey mask with red streaks and no one would care what you wore under it.

Oh my.  Yes, no one would care.  Wash that mask before using it or use a different one.  :)

If you look on the Internet, there are all kinds of examples of things people are using as masks.
They range from plastic bottles, newspapers, costume heads, female sanitary pads, kids’s cone-shaped party hats, scuba masks, oranges, paper bags with cutouts, and more.

Apparently some women are making COVID masks out of old bras.
Personally, that seems a little over the top for me.

I hope so. When I travel in N. America and Europe, many people there wonder why I wear an UV protection mask while running outdoors. Sun cream is not enough as it melts away with sweat. The only feasible method is running with a mask and a cap or running only at night. Yes. I noticed that many white people are not easily tanned even after several hours of exposure to the sun.

BTW, I am wondering about the purposes of your visits to East Asia. I usually travel abroad for scientific meetings.

During this urgent time, everything is over the top including wearing facial mask itself, hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, and plasma, all of which have not yet been clinically confirmed regarding their efficacy. Ergo, the photo is acceptable.

Making a face mask from an old bra can be uplifting.  ::)

I think re-using an old bra is a great idea.  They have really good elastic and multiple hooks so you can get the fit just right.  And many girls have one that they are never going to wear as a bra for one reason or another.

You don't want to be touching you face to readjust the mask.  Defeats the whole purpose of wearing it.
