@Jessica
Dear Jess:
When I saw your posted photo of your sprouting onions today, I just had to go out to my garden area and take a picture of my garden plot this afternoon....

There is nothing sprouting here except snow!!!!

We're looking at possible snow here in WA tomorrow.  I am not looking forward to it, because I live on a hill, and I am not a fan of the cold.  It's not too bad compared to what it was like the last time I visited AK this time of year though.  Every once in awhile it piles up and I wish I had a snow machine.  Tomorrow I get supplies in case we get snowed in.

Danielle, I take it you didn’t see the cabbage and broccoli plants I posted earlier...
I’m prepping the other beds for more winter veggies.
It is nice living in a temperate climate, though it was a freezing 42* this morning...oof!

After removing the Palm trees, it’s time to upgrade the garden.  Created paver steps instead of a slope and another grow box to be added to the right of them.

Any winter veggie suggestions for the 2 empty boxes and the new one?
Golden beets are going somewhere!

My grandson’s personal Kryptonite.

He may be in luck, as gray aphids have launched an early attack.  But I have soap spray and big thumbs in my arsenal!

Dear Jess:
You put me to shame with all of your projects and your apparent energy.
Of course I have a good excuse for not doing much regaring outside projects... snow on the ground and Sub-Zero temperatures!!
I enjoy watching your continued progress with your garden.... it will be interesting to read what you are going to decide to plant for winter veggies. ???
HUGS,
Danielle

Don’t be shamed!  I know the sunny season up north is limited.  As far as my energy... I have this because of it.

It is not so much cold here, just around 5 degree Celcius (41 F) at the lowest. The air is unusually clean, and I can see the sea (the Korea Strait) from my house. The sea looks like a lake.

Cheers,

barbie~~

December 29, 2020;

I just want to share "my world" with my forums friends.......
Temperature is minus -20 degrees (f) below Zero....

Here is a photo taken in my town just after church around NOON
on Sunday, December 27, last weekend...
.... lots of snow to clear out....

Short days this time of year
with the Sun never getting very high above the horizon.
  10:45 AM Sunrise     1:55 PM Sunset

So Danielle I take it the "hiking" part of enjoying nature is somewhat shortened this time of year   You are strong. I lived in Wisconsin and Germany through a number of winters, and the shortened days and predominant clouds led me directly to where I live now, Colorado. I'm a sunshine addict

Some snow at the beginning of the year made me stay home. At my university campus after the snow stopped:
