Danielle, do snow peas grown in the snow? I bet you have a really short growing season.

Devlyn, I think your visitor is scoping out the crops which will be available later this year.

I spent 4+hrs digging mums veg patch for her yesterday, she had let it run wild . Filled the brown garden bin and only 2/3rds done . Grass was so bad on one patch I cut it like turves and turned it over to rot down ! The rest of the grass is going in a black bin bag to make compost , still a load of weeds to get out today , cut back blackberry bush and a buddleia as well as last years stems from Michaelmas daisies (worse than weeds!!!) . She has a good crop of leeks , tomatoes growing in green house , runner and french bean seed to plant as well as potatoes . She is 86 so a few hours tiddling is as much as she can manage.

We harvested almost 11 lbs or 5 kilos of rhubarb and  processed it. We have 3 kilos chunked up and  frozen for future use. We used 2 kilos on a jam.

We're going to need a bigger sink!



I didn't get a picture of the cooking,  but here it is during canning.



Rhubarb jam. We got 8 of these small jars and 3 big ones.

Looks like a nice crop. People actually eat rhubarb? I thought it was just used in arguments...

Mums garden is going well, spuds poking there leaves through, same with carrots and runner beans . French and Broad beans nearly ready to plant out.
