How many times did you start then stop transistioning?
« on: July 04, 2020, 05:14:43 pm »
So, been sorting out wardrobes today (Sheez I have too many high heels! and I never wear them either?)... but anyway, I was reminiscing (as you do) about those lovely items I lost in purges. One dress I particularly regret letting go now. It was nothing too special, just a light summer dress, but it needed some shape, which I never had.....

So, I was thinking, I have had 4 purges over the time I have known who I really am - All driven by outside factors (in hindsight) - and they each time were total purges of anything feminine I had. Total clearout.
I am certain now, this is it - no more purges, no more trying to deny it all. Yet, I know, I have been here before.

So, how many times have you started then stopped? Have you lost anything in a purge you now deeply regret? and are you sure this is the last time now and if so why?  :)

I had a cross dressing episode in college when I was 21.  That was still in the seventies.  It ended badly.  The purges always do, mainly because of the dynamic that occurs below:

Have you lost anything in a purge you now deeply regret?

I have been transitioning since 2015.  I'll NEVER go back!

While cross-dressing I had two purges. Since I started on estradiol in March, I have not stopped, my transition has slowed to almost imperceptible change, but there is change. There are a several items I do not like or need and will donate or just toss.

Excellent topic!

In the four years since I've come out to myself, I've stopped and started HRT at least five times and purged at least three sets of clothes. yes, I too lament some of the clothes I no longer have that I wish were still with me.

I DO love shopping though. LOL

:)

My last purge was well over 2 years ago now and almost everyone who would have a care about that now knows. So I am pretty sure it is behind me and due to being full-time more often than not since then, I have much more than I ever lost in the purges. I did donate everything, so that was better I guess??
The real regret was, that that last purge (where I lost the dress and a few other items) only lasted a few weeks - I think it was the last gasp at denial?? I suppose that is interesting to ask as well, how long did your purges last before you bought your next feminine item?

I started once and stopped. I shouldn't have. I should've just told my parents.

Internally (spiritually, mentally, emotionally), I don't think I can count how many times I stopped/started.

I never was at the point of having any material possessions related to it, though.
What I purged (and lost) were a lot of opportunities in life.

However, in retrospect, had I done things differently at that time, my kids wouldn't be here today, and I am thankful to have them, so when I finally accepted who I really am, and finally let her/me out....I know now that was the right time.
It took over 40 years to realise, and believe, that what I am NOT, is a mistake.

I am still afraid to start.  More I want to start transitioning, more I pull away.  It seems there are many here who started and stopped transition for various reasons.  Many seem to retransition.  I am afraid that I may end up starting and stopping multiple times.  Maybe I am over analyzing all this.

Interestingly I never purged, I did, however, get rid of things that I quickly didn't like, or even items I thought "oh what the heck in the store" and got them home and thought "oh what the heck was I thinking?" I kept bringing things to thrift stores a lot in those times.

Also, I belonged to the Stitchfix service which sends you a box of clothes on subscription and the financial incentive is to keep the whole box, so I ended up with the fifth item of a box of five, that I didn't like or didn't fit me right and I would thrift store it or give it to friends.

I've purged a few times over the last 10 years or so.  But I have only stopped my transition once since I officially started.  That lasted about 6 months.

I love my estrogen, but sadly, it is not working fast enough, alas YMMV.

Also I loved my Adoreme subscription.

I've tried and failed to transition many times, but I never purged anything.

I'm far too stingy to throw anything out, and I couldn't give it away since I didn't know when I'd get more clothes.

Darn wish I had kept them hidden instead of purging.

Those never worn vintage items would be worth a small fortune today !

Always felt a twinge of regret and remorse combined with relief while purging.

And yes,  vintage not old enough for antique not young enough for retro 😂

Hugs,

I only stopped once but it was for a very long time, I didn't purge as I didn't have much to begin with. Thankfully now I have a much more supportive chosen family and a not quite so scary world to work with this time.

Just once. Tried to transition in my late teens. Everything went well, but was forced to detrans due to my financial situation at the time. Since then my upper body has grown tremendously. I often think about how it would have been much better for me were I able to continue my transition, but when I take off the rose colored glasses I know that I would have literally starved to death.

Stopping transition and purging are 2 separate things.

In my early days I probably purged a couple of times.

I stopped my transition in 2008 when HRT was making my moods unpredictable.
