Weight and SRS
MoniqueChris:
Hi there,
I am a transsexual young lady who is willing to have srs but im also one of those people that CAN'T and im serious when I say CAN'T (if tried a lot of different things) gain weight, but im extremely healthy, i have a nice lifestyle and my bloodtests are perfect, do you think that being skinny (but really healthy) will be a problem if I want to have surgery? or it does not matter that much? I know that a lot of you might no be doctors, i just want opinions, this worries me a lot
AllieSF:
Why not call one of the surgeons that do that surgery and ask them. The doctor and maybe one of his assistants could give you and idea of what they consider too thin or too heavy. Plus, ask you family doctor who already knows your current and hopefully past medical records and situation. I have a good trans friend who is in her 50's, 6'-1' and weighs about 130 pounds. She is definitely thin. She had BA and is planning on bottom surgery and her doctors have not made an issue so far over her weight. My gut feeling is that you should have no problems, unless the surgeons need a little extra weight when creating the vagina and its accessories. A call to them will help clarify it all for you. Another thing to consider is that each doctor has their own opinion, so calling one of your chosen surgeons would be best to get a better answer. Good luck and let us know what you find out.
Allie.

I would go a ahead and ask.

They postulate that thin people may not have adequate protein for recovery.
I have this issue myself. It is not easy, but I've gained 20 lbs or 1-1/2 stones so I now have a normal body weight.
During the summer when I get a lot of exercise I'll have four meals a day to prevent my weight from dropping.

I've never heard of doctors turning someone away for being underweight, but just ask. Honestly, if anything they're going to be concerned with your eating habits and how healthy you are overall. If that's all good, I think you'll be fine. Eat lots of tacos and good luck! :-)
